He is a wannabe youtube influencer. He has only posted like 5-6 MD videos and one of the was an opening of some other product. I don't do MD videos. Why? They are hard to do properly and they take up time. Plus you really have to build up a pretty large following on youtube to make it pay off in a significant way.And now that we have heard from most of the Vortex haters group.
Yes, his testing was very simple and I believe it was aimed at the beginner. What I got out of it was that the guy seems to truly like the Vortex. It didn't show anything my 20 year old DFX can't do, but, he was trying, and anyone who has done any videos knows it takes a lot of work.
I prefer to help educate beginners by factual posts on this forum. On a lot of my post I am keeping in mind the beginner. There are many very experienced and generous members on this forum. This is where the beginning detectorists can learn a lot if they pay attention. This is exactly how I learned more about the art and science of metal detecting. Plus following rattleheads, Merrills, and the guy Wizards of Wisconsin metal detecting videos on youtube. I attribute watching their videos and other CTX3030 members here on my fast learning curve with my new CTX3030. That also transferred into a faster learning curve on my XP Deus 2. There is a point in your learning about metal detecting that it finally all clicks together. Don't be too surprised if it is a matter of a year or more and not months. There are some beginners that learn fast and put in the hours to learn in a matter of months. It can be done especially if you are in a location where finding good targets is more the norm than the exception.
On the flip side youtubers like ed the beach hunter with his apparently planted gold jewelry finds has hurt many beginners. They see his videos and think it is easy peazy and they buy a detector and head to the beach. After 2 or 3 hunts finding nothing or mostly junk they give up.
Advice to newbies: Ask members on this forum what are the best youtube learning videos for your type of metal detecting sites.
