Detector Travel Case. What do you all think?

Hi looks great! Very nicely made. I want one !!
What are the dimensions of your case please?
Thank you

here is the case... http://www.amazon.com/Plano-Molding...qid=1428036826&sr=8-2&keywords=plano+bow+case

and here is a quick rundown of what I did...

the red foam is 1" thick. the bottom(where everything lays) from the top going down is red 1", red 1", black 1/4"' then another red 1". total of 3 1/4 in bottom. for the top I bought 2 1/2 eggcrate black and then there is another layer of red 1" under it. the inside dimensions are 40 3/4" by 16 3/4". I cut the foam to 41x17. there were also 2 plastic pieces that stuck out in the back of the bottom section which I cut out of the case. they held a small piece of foam vertically along the back. The outside of the case I am not sure but would guess maybe 42x18. yes, the yellow things you see are center supports to keep the case stiff. they came with the case and tou can screw them into the case in many different positions.

That is spectacular! Looks completely professional. I'm going to have to steal your idea for when I get my CTX. Thanks for sharing.

You should build and sell those!! I know I would buy one. Only thing different is I would want the case to be lockable for air travel.

That is absolutely awesome looking, I'm very jealous. Have to add that to the growing list of things I want to add to metal detecting collection! Wow!

Too much work deep... One was enough for me..lol. I am pretty sure the case is lockable. It has round holes next to the front latches that a lock goes through if i remember correctly. Will have to look at it tonight when i get home.

Edit: actually i just went back and looked at the pics in the first page and there is a tab with hole by all 4 latches to lock it up.

awwwww... I am way to lazy to make one LOL...Great work!!! Maybe one day I will get a burr up my butt and make one..

This is excellent! I have been thinking that the duffel bag storage setup I currently have is not adequate protection and is too disorganized, so I am really glad to read this article! Once again, this forum is a great place for learning. Thanks!

Man now you got me thinking the same thing. I have two gun cases I'll get some extra foam and make one for the Excal. And one for the GPX. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Plus if you could can you show you hot wire cutter? If not that's ok too. Thanks

Here is one like i built dirt. I didnt do the shuttle thing he is talking about which lets the wire do angled cuts. My wire is just set at a straight vertical to do straight cuts. Also, dont buy to thick of wire, when I was doing my case I bought thicker gauge nichrome wire and when I was 2/3 of the way finished I blew my power supply and had to finish with a small battery charger hooked to it as my power source. That was harder to do because I lost my temperature control. I just got lazy because I was tired of breaking and having to switch out the thin wire. I still have to order and replace my power supply before I do any other projects..
