Messing around with settings (and reading on the enterwebz) I managed to improve the upload picture size, now you can attach an image up to 2000px wide.
The forum software will resize the image to 1000px wide and strip the meta data in the process.
Meta data only being removed if the picture is resized, if you upload a small picture (smaller then 1000px wide) it will not be resized and meta data will remain intact.
I don't know if this is going to make a huge difference, but I thought I would mention it.

Just a heads up that the "metadata" can include location info, especially when the pic is taken with a phone. This can be an easy way to give away you hot sites if pics of finds are taken in the field. For this reason, it is always wise to consider removing the metadata if you care about this sort of thing.

After more research and messing around with settings we should be able to post pictures without resizing them.
I just posted a 3.4MB picture without issues.
Give a try and let me know if it works or not.

These three pics are about 3, 4, and 5 MB each, and all uploaded fine. I tried one at 6 MB and that failed, so it looks like the new cut off is between 5 & 6 MB. I think that will be much more convenient for members to not need to resize most pictures they wish to upload. Nice work, Vlad! :hi5:

I find this interesting. Someone can figure out where I'm hunting by the photos I post on the forum, if I do NOT remove the Metadata? This could explain ALOT 😤 good thing I don't post finds often anymore

That is what you get for posting finds where you are hunting... I never take a camera where I hunt... if I post a picture of a beach it means I am not hunting there and am doing it to throw others off... Learned that from Captain Silver

Come on Bro, share your loco.... East coasters got it made, lots of old stuff dropped by settler's hundreds of years ago. Penneys here compared to the coins Ben Franklin dropped years ago. Envy Envy Envy for the location. You never know what the tone will give up.

Very cool that you are allowing larger images, lots of forums are not so generous with their disk space!

Normally I'd be glad the photos were completely unedited, but in the case of geotags and other "personal" information, I'd say as a public service to the technically challenged / uneducated, the forum should strip out the meta data of any publicly posted images. Just my 2¢.
