Yes it is a flag holder. Only problem is it's aluminum but this scoop is only temporary until I get my stavr. I'm def gonna put more holes and thinking about shaving the lip down

What about drilling a few holes and using some pop rivets on the metal piece?

The handle

Well, that looks like it's going in the right direction. You need more holes and closer together. I did it with a plastic grain scoop with a thinner wall and it lasted over a year... actually it was the handle that broke, not the holes. I would also sand/file the under side of the lip to help push it through the wet sand. Finally, where did you get the support for the handle? I've never seen one. I think if you have a weak point, that might be it. Keep refining and post a "how to" in the scoops thread at the top of the beach forum.

It's a flag pole holder for the side of a house I believe. Got one on my house, great idea and it mite last, mine is pretty tough feeling. I will try my hand making a sand digger pretty soon.

Get a 6 inch tube, mine cost $9 and was long enough to make 2 scoops. Dump that rear cap. Get some half inch wide wire screen, put that around the back of the scoop and use a giant hose clamp to hold it on.

It will work, but the whole thing is so badly balanced ( ever swung a sledge, all the weight is at one end ) it will make you really want to buy a scoop.

Get a lift assist handle , your back with thank you.

Ohh. drill LOTS more holes. And put hard drive magnets in there with zip ties.

There's a guy on youtube who made a nice scoop out of a feeder scoop from tractor supply and underground electricians conduit can have the whole thing under $20. And all metal
Id say your better off heating the pvc and flattening it and shaping it to a scoop shape reinforce the sides and top with L brackets or lighter angle iron (scrap bedframe) and rivet it all together
