I'm new here, but some posters may already know me!

I guess that means we'll "see" more of you here?

As long as you let me 'diss magic wands and treasure legends, and continue to poke fun at the east-coast liar's club ! haha Seriously now: I'll be good :frustrated:

Tom, I'm surprised at you! You don't believe in magic wands? Haven't you seen any Harry Potter movie? They use magic wands and the Potter movies have made billions.

I know, next you are going to tell me that you don't think LRLs work, either. Personally, I haven't found anything with mine, but I think it's because it's too windy here and it blows away the ionic clouds given off by long buried gold and silver. I am working on a new system that shows promise, I use a plumb bob, held over a topo map of the area. Mark the map and then head out to those coordinates with my LRL in hand. Last time, the place on the map turned out to be a Walmart parking lot and I did find a clad quarter on the black top. Well, it was an eyeball find, but I'm sure my LRL would have found it if I could have stabilized it. It just kept making random noises. I hear asphalt plays havoc with LRLs for some reason.

...You don't believe in magic wands?...

haha, you and free-bird-Tim brightened up my day !

Ok, now if someone can please make a post on the merits of looking for Dent's Run treasure with the right brand of LRL

I've enjoyed reading all these posts. They got some drama going on over there at whatever that forum is. I'd get booted for sure. I'm opinionated and all. Even though Freebirdtim associates himself with and extremely overrated band from the seventies(lighten up-just messing around) he does have some valid points and his opinion is no less valid than anybody else's. I think differing opinions make life interesting and brings opportunity to expand ones thinking.

Bikers love Skynyrd , so I forwarded your comment to the Michigan Hells Angels chapter. They said they'd love to come to your house and discuss it further! Should be fun! Lol!

Ok, I'm a real rookie at this and on this site....What is an LRL...?
the only dumb question is the one you don't ask.

Well I'm glad they will be coming on Harleys then. There's a strong likelihood, taking that brand's dependability issues in to account, most of em won't run long enough to make it way out here in the sticks. Its not like they would be on rice burners or BMW's. To get to my home you must take a right at the middle of nowhere and go another couple miles. If there is a tractor pulling an implement down the center of the road blocking everything then you are close.

On the up side Harleys are easy to find parts for. You just gotta walk down the side of the road and pick up the ones that fell off other harleys. LOL

.....What is an LRL...?....

LRL = "Long Range Locator"

It is basically a dowsing rod swiveling pointer device. To which they added some electronic components (wires, diodes, chips, a battery, etc....) . To make them appear to have some sort of scientific basis of operation.

Tom, you are correct. Insinuating that the mods over there are favoring someone is immediate grounds for a vacation. They like to play favorites, but don't want to admit it. The mod from PA is good buddies with the guy who claims to have found the Civil War gold, so he spends all his time defending this outlandish "the FBI stole my gold" claim.

Oh well, life goes on. I'll keep posting videos every once in awhile and show off some of my better finds here on a semi-regular basis. That should appease my need to brag about my treasure hunting finds! LOL!

The only people who make money on finding civil war gold and silver are the authors of books on civil war gold and silver.

Been in Atlanta since 1967 and have heard many, many stories about civil war gold buried, stolen and buried, etc. But guess what. Not a single reliable news report of anyone finding any of this supposed gold and silver.

welcome Tim. I go to the other forum occasionally for one reason only. To get some of the very best metal detecting technical advice given by Vferrari. That man is an incredible resource. Tried more than once to get him to switch sides.

Well you know why that is, right ? It's NOT that civil war legend gold and silver aren't being continually found. Or that all the legends aren't rock-solid true.

Instead, the reason why we never see any reports is:

a) The FBI swoops in and steals them during the night.

b) The persons who find them are afraid of the IRS and taxes, so they keep mum.

c) The persons who find them are afraid they'll be the target of thieves, so they keep mum.

But rest assured: All the CW treasure stories are true !

The money grubbing politicians made one law very clear. Federal tax law, specifically IRS code section 61, states, “Gross income means all income from whatever source derived.” Yes, even our dirty clad we accumulate.

The elected official left no loopholes when it came to picking the American tax payer's pockets. But rest assured in every other part of the tax code it is full of loopholes that will grant exemptions to their favorite donors in all the big industries.

Once a man (or now woman, trans) who goes to washington, dc to represent and serve their voters (hah! what a joke) they manage to line their pockets coming and going.

Unfortunately this is a universal characteristic of elected officials whether it be in the US, China, Russia or anywhere. Being an elected official is one of the best gigs on this planet. It is because they are so much smarter than the dumb voters or citizens who put up with this !!!!, which seems to be all of us.

I've spent the last 5 years posting on the other popular treasure hunting website. But now that they've decided to ban anyone who comments negatively about the Dents Run Gold "find", I'll be posting here once in awhile.

I've been lurking on this site for a few months and I do recognize some of the posters. Jason in Enid and Tom in CA are two posters I'm familiar with, but I'll bet there are many more that I'll recognize.

I spend most of my time detecting in the woods looking for colonial era coins and relics. I live in Scituate, RI, which is great place to hunt for the old stuff. I do enjoy digging for clad every once in awhile, but rarely detect at the beach. Just not my thing, I guess.

Some of you guys may also know me from my videos on YouTube. My handle is "SkynyrdTim" on that site and I usually have "Metal Detecting Rhode Island" in the video's title.

That's it for now. I will be commenting on the Dents Run gold thread, but not today. Don't want to start out by posting negative comments on my first day here! Take care and HH.

FREEBIRDTIM!!!

Woot! Glad to have you come join. ;) I bailed a year ago, and couldn't be happier here. None of the drama, and people generally stick to the friendly aspect. Snarky comments abounded over there... finally got to me.

Welcome back, my friend. :)

EDIT: I was wondering how it seemed like you'd been around for a while... and then I noted the OP was back in October. LOL I'm an idiot.

And then they hold them over a map. Hence the "long range." I love how they put little circles on maps, where they get the hits!

I hadn't considered how the winds blow away the ionic clouds. That TOTALLY makes sense, now.

But how does the ionic cloud stick to the map?
