Woooo freakin hooo! Day 5 was great. We got SOAKED due to the non stop rain, but we didn't care. The course was closed early and we took advantage of the extra couple hours of light.
Like the last 4 days we started on the range, but quickly branched out (for the first time) and went towards the pond (hole 3) where I found the first silver of my night (1943 S War nickel) followed by the second silver(1911 Barber dime) followed by an Indian (1903). Right away, I knew we made the right choice. We scoured the area for an hour with not much to show for it aside from those 3 coins, so we headed back up the 504 yard hole to the car to hydrate and get some food in us. On the way up I found a 1903 V nickel and was STOKED!
We made it back to the range, but took a different approach and I ended up pulling my 3rd silver for the night which was a 46 GW coupled with a Wa state tax token. A few Wheaties each after this and we each pulled a 1914 S wheatie and then Jed nabbed another 14 which we believe to be a D.
With hoots and hollers we were in the mix like a blender. It was getting late and we decided we should wrap it up sooner than later (turned out to be 3 hours later) but not before I nabbed a 45 merc and then I did it... MY FIRST EVER TRIFECTA! I pulled a buffalo and yelled at the top of my lungs "BUFFALOOOOOOOOO" with my fists clenched like Mr. Savage himself. Yes, I was THAT excited, and glad it was just me and Jed because it would have looked pretty silly on a curbstrip to those that don't know what we do
Now I've gotten penny trifectas on several occasions, but don't really count those.
In reality I should have stayed to try and tough it out, because if I could have nailed a rosie I suppose I would have had a trifecta trifecta (3 pennies, 3 nickels, 3 dimes), but it wasn't meant to be.
This was my best coin shoot yet I'd say. I was one short on my silver record of 5, but I've never gotten a nickel trifecta before, so that felt REALLY good.
