Golf Course Day 1-6 new upload: EPIC 2 hours...EPIC

Woooo freakin hooo! Day 5 was great. We got SOAKED due to the non stop rain, but we didn't care. The course was closed early and we took advantage of the extra couple hours of light.

Like the last 4 days we started on the range, but quickly branched out (for the first time) and went towards the pond (hole 3) where I found the first silver of my night (1943 S War nickel) followed by the second silver(1911 Barber dime) followed by an Indian (1903). Right away, I knew we made the right choice. We scoured the area for an hour with not much to show for it aside from those 3 coins, so we headed back up the 504 yard hole to the car to hydrate and get some food in us. On the way up I found a 1903 V nickel and was STOKED!

We made it back to the range, but took a different approach and I ended up pulling my 3rd silver for the night which was a 46 GW coupled with a Wa state tax token. A few Wheaties each after this and we each pulled a 1914 S wheatie and then Jed nabbed another 14 which we believe to be a D.

With hoots and hollers we were in the mix like a blender. It was getting late and we decided we should wrap it up sooner than later (turned out to be 3 hours later) but not before I nabbed a 45 merc and then I did it... MY FIRST EVER TRIFECTA! I pulled a buffalo and yelled at the top of my lungs "BUFFALOOOOOOOOO" with my fists clenched like Mr. Savage himself. Yes, I was THAT excited, and glad it was just me and Jed because it would have looked pretty silly on a curbstrip to those that don't know what we do

Now I've gotten penny trifectas on several occasions, but don't really count those.

In reality I should have stayed to try and tough it out, because if I could have nailed a rosie I suppose I would have had a trifecta trifecta (3 pennies, 3 nickels, 3 dimes), but it wasn't meant to be.

This was my best coin shoot yet I'd say. I was one short on my silver record of 5, but I've never gotten a nickel trifecta before, so that felt REALLY good.

I live on a golf course that is only 50 years old and I averaged 60 coins in the drive up or waiting area by every tee off. You should kick butt in that area on this old course! Good luck!

Oh Boy! The coins are starting to show up now!! You may not need to ever go anywhere else in your detecting career! :D

Considering I've burned all my curb strips, this place is heaven right now.

I wish it wasn't so hard to find the coins though. I'll walk around for 20 minutes without digging a single coin or let alone hear any garbage. And there is no rhyme or reason to the pattern

Those are some awesome finds, looks like a lot of fun...I'm jealous!!

There's a golf course near me that closed down about 10 yeas ago and on a whim one day I thought I'd try it. My thought process was golfers, including myself, usually use a coin for a ball marker so I figured I pick up some clad.

After two hunts before winter set in these were the very surprising results:
I can't wait till Spring when the snow is gone and the weeds are down so I can hit the old fairways.

Love this thread!
You guys are killing it on that place.
Try to keep all of these coins together so you can do a super-post with all of them at the end:D

Oh, without a doubt! Here is a pic of my mini station I designated for the golf course. I have sandwich bags dated that go with the days as well that contain the more "ho-hum" items from the day.

I intend to take a bit of every day and put aside a few finds to make a nice shadow box for the golf course club house. I spent the first 4 days trying to plot my tracks via GPS through my phone so I could make a birds eye view of the finds and locations as a laminated map, but it didn't work. I should have just used my hand held GPS from day one. I may still try and make that work and go from memory on the first 4 days. We will see.

Reb: those are solid finds for just a short stint. I can't wait to see your threads when the snow melts. Considering I won't pI'll any large cents your finds should be spectacular! Maybe a gold coin is in your future:D

:hi5: Right on guys! Tell me more about that orchard you messaged me about. Was it Ben Pettygrove's orchard? :?:

Funny you mention that... Jedediah and I have been piecing that together for some years now. Obviously it's 1 in a million, but I figured out something HUGE last night purely by chance really, so we have a new direction for that which is exciting. I was on the phone with Jed about it today because it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Fun stuff that one.

Keep the updates coming---Look forward and enjoy reading your updates---Thanks for sharing

Wanted to add some eye candy from day 6 for the team. Jedediah and I found ourselves with 2.5 hours before we had to run and pick up family that is coming in, so we hit the course and we had an EPIC 2 hours!

We found only a few keepers each and I think we each dug 1-2 pieces of trash. It was great. Jedediah walked away with his first SLQ which is a 1920 and a 48 Rosie along with a few wheats.

I will upload my pics later, but I will say I got my first class ring and I am beyond excited. This is the number 1 item I've wanted over everything and I did it and it's old...

Edit: here you go team

Clipped by the mower so the band is mangled, but it's AWESOME.. Silver with a gold P. Kept my silver streak alive for 6 days now (new record) and I got some gold with it. (How do I count it?) I also got another piece of gold that is cool, but not this cool
