Gary, Are you using the 6" coil or is that the 11"?

Aqua, they have not released the waterproof headphones to the public yet so he is the only one that can water detect with a CTX and hear it. Also, there is a delicate balance between being objective and making sponsors unhappy be careful. I was tarred and feathered for saying less in another forum. I even suggested GPS a year ago when they asked for enhancement suggestions on the new E-Trac.

This isn't a controlling forum like FM is... I can't believe the powers that be over there how they ban members for speaking their opinions... we ban spammers and a troll or two if they drift in :D

Hey Gary, I would gladly meet up with you for a beach hunt and see how the CTX 3030 works since your only like 20 minutes from me.. I mean If this thing works like you say it does and I see it for my self them I will sell my stuff and get me one!

You are correct ScubaSteve, it does not get any better than that. I am already in the process of investing in a waterproof video camera myself with Pi Joes valuable insight into waterproof video cameras helping me to narrow my choices down. I may have to add sub titles so you can understand my heavy Northern English accent and wear my Austin Powers Union Jack speedos for the ladies. GGrrrr Oh behave!

Now that is guaranteed 1 mill views on youtube!

Few more of the people are getting their water proof headphones. Maybe Gary wont catch as much flack now once they stop tweaking and start posting. I doubt Garys going to give away his secret settings for awhile. Again..... way to dig.

Gary,i would think that if you video your hunts, without giving up location's like Max ,i would think that you would put some- not believing mind's to rest ,ya never know, you could be the next star :clapping:,Pi joe has come along way with his video's,the music has got better :waytogo:,make sure it's HD Gary happy hunting ,nice looking find's Earl

As far as settings go there isn't a whole lot of things to adjust as compared to a Whites V3I where you can change pretty much everything the detector does.
So as far a Secret Settings good luck LOL.

Don't get your hope's up on Gary -going video,he hunt's alone like me,and is in the LOOSE LIP'S SINK SHIP"S CLUB ,just buy some powerball ticket's

Sounds like Aquaman is a little disappointed hes not digging more trash. Can someone please take more bobby pins and paper clips to his beach lol. The trash level tends to be low on my beaches.... then you go out the next day and you are knee deep in !!!!. I think those pull tabs and bottle caps are breading.

Dew

Same here Dew, some times I can go 20 min. and not get a beep and others I get a hit with every other swing, I wish they made those bobbypins out of the same stuff they use in fish hooks that desolve in salt water in a short time.:laughing: Ive got 4 months of bobbypins and hair pins, they are all in a 1 gallon zip-loc bag, I just weighed the bag the other day and it weighed 1.3 pounds:wow: tent stakes and beach machine splines weighed 5.5 pounds. I can mail them to AM if he wants them:lol::lol::lol: Iam working on a album of pics to post all my finds from the first 4 months with the DF, I have it all laid out on my bedroom floor, been double checking all gold and silver and found a couple surprises, I have a gold cross with no marks and started with 10k and it passed all the way up to 22k, the test kit I recently got dosnt have 24k, also checked some junk rings and 1 that almost all the gold plate had peeled off tested good for .925. So for now on I will keep checking everything. Gary is really killing it, wish our beaches produced as much:yes: but we can only dream..GL+HH.....cliff.

I'm still trying to get someone to post the trash they dug while using a ctx! It's harder than getting into area 51! Can one of you average guys post your trash while using a ctx? Gary is a seasoned pro.I'm talking your short timer here.I try to post my trash dug so newbies see it isn't all riches. In fact it is very few riches and very hard work. Some days are downright frustrating.Let's see the junk on new machines first outings please! Most of us like seeing the junk.I'm more proud of the litter i've disposed of than most i guess?

I have been using the CTX 3030 since they came open to the public.
Some have had the unit for a lot longer than that! Hint Hint!
As far as trash goes in the begining the trash was as normal as any other detector. Now its kinda hard to dig trash in the same amounts as with other detectors. You just get a feel for the machine trash just sounds weak lacks roundness. I come home with far more targets that trash with the CTX 3030 Can slaw is always an issue, along with balled aluminum and copper sheet. Pull tabs most often read the same TDI number and just don't sound like gold and you can comfortably skip them.
As with any new detector in my 38 years of hunting there is always a learning curve. I got mixed up with some E Trac/ 3030 land guys and was trying to use those same settings on the beach. I was very new to computer based detectors.I had a hard go of it. After speaking with Gary early on in July he set me straight on beach settings. I also had his book coming a few days eariler that they went on sale. His book made some very big empressions on me,along with Jim Brouwer,Clive Cylick,Andy Sabisch, to name a few. I went back and re- read older books and found that I had picked up so really bad habits! My gold finds have increased tremendously since.
Had it not been for Hurricane Sandy My CTX 3030 would have been paid for by the end of this year! My home town beaches within 45 minutes of home were devastated, they are either still close to the public and being replensished at a rate of 300 truck loads of new sand a day. I have gone from hunting 30/40 hrs a week to 6 times in a month!

I understand what you are saying. But that is the same thing i can do with my old worn out DFX.I don't need GPS either.A friend of mine knows Andy Sabisch.I get the book thing.Digging deeper with the DFX is a good book too.But when you dig things like pocket watches sometimes what Gary says doesn't add up.You say the wrong thing under Minelabs reign they'll pull you from the tit! Ask Gary to say some negatives about the machine.I dare you! You like Koss headphones? Gary does:laughing:Used to follow him. He's a good guy.But i fished with guys who can tell better stories. And they are still my friends. Not the first one ever tried to sell me a Ranger flats boat though.Yeah they don't talk bad about Ranger either.Would you for a brand new $35,000 boat every other year? I think not!!!!!
