White's is number one in my book. Reasonable repair charges when out of warranty, and they really take care of the customer. I own both an old Eagle Spectrum and a DFX.
That being said, I've come to the conclusion I need a machine that takes a slower swing speed. Even adjusted down, it's faster than my common swing. Whipping the coil isn't for me, and I think I lose quite a bit of depth with my normal swing. I'd like to go with a Minelab as an additional detector to give them a try, but their customer service is severely lacking, so much so my dealer dumped their line over high repair bills on detectors he sold to his customers when warranty ran out.
I wish all were like White's.
Carl, perhaps you could give us measurements on the pinpointer, most notably the circumference of the base of the handle (where probe part starts), center of handle, and just before the orange cap (still at the black portion). I'm assuming it gets wider towards the back battery cap? That might help those of us with Bomb Sheaths figure out if it's going to fit.
Actually, maybe I should measure where the Garrett (circumference) stops the pinpointer from going into the sheath further, and you can see if it corresponds to a circumference on the new White's probe at a good position for use in the sheath....
