Whites *UPDATED* NEW Pinpointer

Carl, perhaps you could give us measurements on the pinpointer, most notably the circumference of the base of the handle (where probe part starts), center of handle, and just before the orange cap (still at the black portion). I'm assuming it gets wider towards the back battery cap? That might help those of us with Bomb Sheaths figure out if it's going to fit.

Our PP is very slightly larger that Garrett's... it will fit in the Garrett holster but won't seat in quite as far.

Compare

The new whites works fine in any garrett sheath ;)

White's is number one in my book. Reasonable repair charges when out of warranty, and they really take care of the customer. I own both an old Eagle Spectrum and a DFX.

That being said, I've come to the conclusion I need a machine that takes a slower swing speed. Even adjusted down, it's faster than my common swing. Whipping the coil isn't for me, and I think I lose quite a bit of depth with my normal swing. I'd like to go with a Minelab as an additional detector to give them a try, but their customer service is severely lacking, so much so my dealer dumped their line over high repair bills on detectors he sold to his customers when warranty ran out.

I wish all were like White's.

Actually, maybe I should measure where the Garrett (circumference) stops the pinpointer from going into the sheath further, and you can see if it corresponds to a circumference on the new White's probe at a good position for use in the sheath....

My v3i loves to crawl, I swing it very slow and it just creeps out the silver from the trash.

I cant wait for the new pinpointer.

Ya, I've heard from several, including dealers, they got it right with the v3i. I've had a love/hate relationship with the DFX however, and have never been quite as happy with it. In many ways, my old Spectrum beats it (other than on nickels and bottlecap rejection). Seems more stable, locks on targets better, and is definitely a deeper machine. I've been White's loyal, but I think I'm about ready to give another a try. It's all about finding the one you get along with best, which isn't the same for everybody.

I'm using a Buzz Sheath, so hopefully it still fits well in it.

A waterproof feature will def. separate it from the rest.

On the White's forum website, they said the waterproof idea was scrapped, speaker wasn't loud enough. It's only water resistent. Would be cool if all we had to do was seal off the speaker, or change shells. Don't like loud speakers, and would be inclined to disable it, but have a hunch we are going to need to here the beeps, to change through the options. Still, I'm willing to grab one, when available.

well if its not waterproof i'll pass on it, i see no improvements on what i currently use.who designed this thing....ya don't stick a square probe into a round hole

Hey Phil,
Do you have these yet and have you had a chance to test drive them?

It's official! Appears I will have them in the shop in Feb.
Water Proof, Replaceable shell, dual - either 9volt or AA batteries
no wonder it took so log.

As many of you know Whites has been working on a new Pinpointer for a while now. The bullseye 2 was good but failed in comparison to other PP's. I sell the Garrett PP 4-to-1 over the Whites and I love Whites but the Garrett PP has better features. Here's a look at what could be the new Whites PinPointer. It may have a lost pinpointer alarm in it for guys like me who lose things constantly. I will be stocking them at the shop and I will give a review when I get them in stock. HH phil

I had heard that they actually backed off on the "waterproof" claim.
I would really like to know if it will actually be submersible or just "water resistant".
I will probably buy one anyways cause I am one of those guys that have to have the latest gadgets. I think this time I will play it smart and wait for it to be out 6 months and see if there are any issues.

It is weather resistant. They tired water proof but it was not loud enough, or so goes the story. With a replaceable skin, I guess they could update that at a later time..
