Dutchess County NY

From what I just heard that is normal to be closed off. You have to go down another way.

Oh man! I missed you Walt. I even drove down to the other beach next to Rye but that one had all sorts of signs too that didn't make it sound like I should enter there either.
I went out tonight to a nice old homestead. Didn't find much but it was nice to be out.

Look forward to the pictures Walt!

Hey Walt -Curious, did you ever post pictures from your day at Rye Beach? I been hitting (weather permitting) beaches on the sound this winter, but mostly in CT. Haven't had much success.

Dutchess CTY ------ Used to live up there and hunted with friends Never got reallt into to looking But there are many hot spots that other than a local would know ___ I live in Georgia Now but might be abl to give some spots we used to search before devices got as good as today ___ let me know

I am not sure if anything is there now but at the top of Brick Yard Hill going North on the left there use to be a Indian type Theme Park I remember going to as a kid 1950's . I went there once real quick in the early 70's with my detector but only found a few silver coins.

It sat almost right on Rt9 and went back into what I would think is woods now if its not built up... Might pay to give i a look...

It was at the top of Brick Yard Hill just before St. Andrews Rd. on the left side. I was a kid and I am now 62 soon to be 63 LOL So it was a while ago...Marist is way to far south its even North of the Culinary if that's still there?

The last time I was there I think there was some type of restaurant there but the park was actually a little South of that building hope this helps...It was never real busy and didnt last there long so there may not be anything there but if someone is bored might be a spot to check out.

I'm up around Albany and would be willing to stop down to hunt your area sometime. My wife worked for IBM years ago and I was down that way a lot then. Let me know if your interested?

I would love to but I am going ice fishing way up north (where the ice is). I don't recall the last time I have been able to detect in February in our part of the country...I wonder if we will make it through the entire winter with weather like this?

I know! I didn't go on the last trip we were doing since I put my Md away for the year. I just popped it out last weekend for the good weather.

Another group hunt

Hello Everyone
It looks like winter is never going to arrive. Would anyone be up for a hunt?
I have been crazy busy trying to get all of my indoor winter projects done so it has been a couple weeks since I was out detecting. I finally made it out yesterday and found an old metal whistle that was engraved "compliments of the new york evening telegram" which was a newspaper in business from 1867 to 1926

Now that is an awesome find! I would rather find that than an old coin!

Anyone from Sullivan County New York ?? Got a question.
I have a cabin (summer place) in Sullivan County N.Y so I am up there alot.I asked a women through an e-mail from the Parks county office which parks are ok to metal detect. She thanked me for asking but then said none are because every park is considered a historic park and you can't hunt.Is this true or was she just pulling my leg thinking I will destroy the grounds.
