That appears to be on his thumb, so it looks large to me. Would love to see a side view.

Sorry guys, the Blue Jays ring was a recovery job. Not a ring I found for myself. Here are some ugly rings I found in last nights hunt, not quite as cool as the blue jays ring :P

Almost at the half way point of the Challenge, as always you can read all about it here http://metaldetectingchallenge.blogspot.com/

Predecimal out...zzzz

Hi guys, thanks for the support and great ideas. Anyone have a link to the whites stories site??

We are always interested in a good metal detector treasure story. Family outings, a vacation hunt that paid for the trip, a backyard with a history! Mention the metal detector, how deep was the find, and any other interesting details. Include a few pictures of yourself and the treasure.

Send your story to:

You should seriously consider 13rannons offer. I haven't seen many reps out scouting for stories. Could mean a few freebies and serve as a link on your blog.

Glad to hear your health has returned. I wish US currency had larger denomination coins. Digging a corroded penny 10" down doesn't seem worth the effort sometimes. Nice rings BTW.

I contacted whites, they are going to send the story to their mailing list. I know what you mean about US Currency, I would have no hope of surviving without $1 and $2 coins.

I am off to a good start to week 3 of the challenge, night 1 $87.45 in currency, and Day 2 a $700 reward for finding a 2 hour old wedding ring. Very sad story with a happy ending http://metaldetectingchallenge.blogspot.com/2009/10/metal-detector-challenge-week-3-day-2.html

Thanks to everyone for their comments and support. Glad you are all enjoying!

$87.45 wow! That ring is beautiful. For a $700 dollar award I wonder how much it was actually worth? That's 2 rings you've returned for $800 so far this month...fantastic. I think you should add in the award money to your coin totals.

Amazing Pre-decimal getting the award! Cool finds...you've done really well on your hunt thus far. Love the pics.

I just read your blog about that story in the 36 feet water. That was amazing. I can just see the look on that mans face when you came up with that ring. I look up to people like you. You are great and love what you do. Awesome work man. Keep on going you can do it.

From memory the guy said he paid $3800AU for the Ring, which is almost the same in US Dollars at the moment. I have been adding the recovered ring rewards to the total finds, after it is revenue derived from my metal detecting :)

Thanks Golden, I have 3 more diving jobs booked, all lost wedding rings. A shame you don't live in Sydney, I am not a confident diver :(

I will keep going JBEXPRESS, only 1.5 weeks to go...and thanks for your kind words :)

You'll get there Pre-decimal. I've only been scuba diving for 18 months. But I feel pretty confident. Hoping to do my Deep course soon.

Being new to this hobby (well sort of) it seems to me that no matter how this turns out it has to beat any normal 9 to 5 :)

Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed the blog too.
