Why even think about going detecting?

Our local grocery store put a limit of 4 cases of bottled water per person as they were having the bottled water run out too fast. 4 cases of bottled water should be plenty for most families to last a while.

Yeah i never figured out the bottled water thing. Safer to get it out of a faucet if we aren't in hurricane mode. I was a pipe fitter back in the day. We did a job by one of the major water bottling companies. They stored the packaged bottles of water outside in a huge parking lot for weeks in the sun:shock:

IF they ever did a really strict lockdown that only allowed leaving your property for grocery shopping, going to work, or emergencies, and closed public areas like parks, then my 1 1/2 acres of yard would really be getting a good going over in the meantime, might find little if any good finds but I'd at least get more trash cleaned out of the ground I didn't find before

Not sure anyone is checking, i had to deliver a Diagnostic scan tool to a truck shop in Illinois yesterday. I was in my personal Pickup with out of state plates. About 8 hours round trip, I had the proper paperwork with me incase i had been pulled over and no one did. Must have seen 4-5 state troopers, a couple city cops. I was also parked at a roadside picnic area to work on my laptop for a second when a county sheriff did a loop through the wayside, he just looked at me and waived.

I have a Kroger employee badge, these days that's practically the keys to the city. Would of never guess that a few months back. Move aside officer, I'm in the grocery business.

I prefer to be able to drink the tap water, but when you have times during the year when it has brown tinge to it it kinda makes you leery

They have said it is harmless when it does happen, but mentally it is hard to overlook

Here is a quote from the last time it happened back around November:

"...….Water Treatment Plant is experiencing an unusually high level of manganese in their surface water supply. Due to these high levels you may be experiencing some discolored water.

This condition is due to changes in the weather and temperature fluctuations in the lake which has produced these high levels of manganese. This is a naturally occurring event. This element is commonly present in rocks and soil. We regret any inconvenience that this may be causing you. We are working diligently to resolve this issue as quickly and safely as possible."

Maybe they figured with out of state tags you were not someone just casually out and about without a valid reason.

…...and maybe you get first dibs when a new supply of toilet paper comes in as a new benefit of being an employee

Our water comes from Lake Michigan, and in summer during long hot spells, the tap water 1) is not real cold, and 2) smells like fish.

…...you could always use it for making fish soup, no extra flavoring needed !

(I'm sure you likely keep some bottled water on hand or use a good filter system !)

Best time to curb strip. Im experiencing less people wondering what I am doing. Now get out there and get those coins

Seems like it would be just the opposite with so many peeps stuck at home.

I wish... Do tech support out of the loft over my garage since offices are currently a ghost town. I'm dealing with the same mess as everyone else getting through the stores. Fortunately toilet paper is never really a problem but only because I was stocked up on it before any of this mess started. Only head to Sam's once every few months but toilet paper and paper towels was something I always get a few months supply of when I am there. Thinking of becoming a doomsday prepper once this passes

…...maybe it's not that some people might not notice, but rather that they don't feel it's worth the risk to come outside and get close enough to question what you are doing.

Same here, even before this all started it was normal for us to buy about three 12 roll packs so we didn't have to shop it as often as we got a deal on it at a separate store that we usually only go to when we do need toilet paper (Dollar General). Why waste gas and time running to that store every other week when you can stock up enough to not have to go there as often.

When we do get a chance to shop at a Walmart we stock up on several things we can get at a better price than our local grocery store, but since the closest one is about 25 miles away (about 50 mile round trip) we don't get there that often so we stock up when we do get to one.

I think after all this there might be more people who do start doing some "prepping" that never thought to do it before

Just remember to cough while you detect. No one flexes

Just saw an online news article about the economy stimulus bill being passed, besides help for various businesses and hospitals it included:

(quote)

Individuals
Direct payments to lower- and middle-income Americans of $1,200 for each adult, as well as $500 for each child. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said checks would be cut April 6.

Unemployed
Unemployment insurance extension to four months, bolstered by $600 weekly. Eligibility would be expanded to cover more workers.

(end of quote)

(see above link for complete article)

Please note: this is not meant to start any political discussion, but only to share news of what you can expect, hopefully it will be a big help to those who are temporarily laid off.

Hmmm.... I wonder if I can now change my tax exemption status dependents from 1 to 9 ?

Amazing how it only takes $1200 for anti socialists to turn to socialism.

Sorry, when first reading that article I got the impression it was completely passed, especially when it was mentioned about cutting the checks on April 6, but just seeing another article it looks like there is still a vote on it today -

…….so don't spend it yet, wait till you hear it was actually approved

some years back I worked with a woman in a warehouse she used to list all her dogs as dependent children , as far as I know got away with it for years. Don't think you had to include children's social security numbers back then.

Claiming different numbers of dependents just affects the amount held from each paycheck. It all gets reconciled when you prepare your yearly tax statement.
