I know many have built their own water scoops so I figured I'd give it a shot myself. Came across a really heavy duty stainless scoop head on ebay. Previous owner broke the handle off the scoop and I bought it for $20 plus shipping. I figured at that price I didn't have much to lose. I grabbed a set of wheelbarrow handles from lowes and set to work.
Work started at 10am- 12 beers, a $20 dollar scoop head, $12 dollar set of handles and expertise from my great neighbor, the almighty "Cosmo", and you see the results. May very well be more heavy duty than I ever expected. Weighs about 10lbs. Sure beats sifting and delightfully easy on the eyes!
