Why I'm getting the XP Deus

I had an XP Deus for a short period of time...just not my cup of tea....I have also used the etrac, Whites V3i and Fisher F75se......now down to just one keeper - an MXT Pro with 3 coils...as far as I am concerned it is easily the best bang for the buck out there today.

I sure do miss mine

Again, don't get me wrong here folks. The CTX is the better over-all detector (edit: in my opinion), no doubt. It just can't compete in trash and iron. But depth, silver IDing, etc. is unmatched.

 The Deus I got was faulty in several ways.. and is being RETURNED. :( I'll probably get it from Bart or one else now.

My Deus

I have the latest F-75 and prefer it on all counts to my Deus. The Deus will be for sale.

Gotta agree here. The CTX has smoked the deus so far, I think it's going up for sale soon as well. You just gotta really learn the CTX to see its magic.

Deus / F-75

I probably should have said a bit more about why I have decided to keep the F 75 and not the Deus.

As a gold nugget detector, the F-75 does way better on tiny targets, even when the Deus is used in it's Prospecting mode.

For general detecting main problem with the Deus is that deep iron (for me) is not distinguishable from deep non-ferrous, it all sounds the same. Perhaps it's a lack of discipline or attention on my part. With My F-75 in Boost Mode, I can usually get a bit of high tone and often a recurring ID (if jumpy) on deep non ferrous.

Add to that that I Paid less than $500 for a cherry used F-75 LTD and my deus with 2 coils cost me $1500 used, it becomes clear which Imshould keep.

It's a nice machine and light as a feather - that part I will miss.

The deus will do good in tons of iron and trash for shallow coins. That's about it.

Having used the E-Trac, CTX and every other top rated machine I could get my hands on I'm back to the Deus as well. The E-Trac cleaned out many of deep silver from the city park and the CTX a bit more, but now all that stuff where the E-Trac/CTX excels is gone and the time for a quicker picker upper is at hand. The Deus is the Quicker Picker Upper.

Sure, the deus could perhaps get a hidden coin under lots of iron compared to the ctx/e-trac.

But the ctx/e-trac will score much more deeper coins the deus would never find. The ratio is much in favor of minelab.

The ratio is much in favor of minelab.

A bold statement but I'd say that depends on the conditions and your knowledge of each detector. I've found the Deus to go every bit as deep as either the E-Trac or CTX once you learn how to read the deus. Yes the E-Trac/CTX does make it easier with less experience needed, but the Deus is every bit as deep.

Actually, I found the deus learning curve much more like the AT Pro compared to minelab.

I disagree on your statement about depth.

I agree detector... I owned them both and both the ctx and deus are awesome machines. They each have their stronger points but for the type of hunting I do I would take a deus every time if offered the choice between the two. If I hunted more open areas with less iron/trash I would take a ctx... I find it comical when someone posts how great one machine is and that the other stinks because usually they are comparing one machine they have owned and used for months compared to one they have had for a couple weeks:laughing::laughing:
