What are the chances this is a meteorite ? UPDATE !!!

Just curious Meteoriteman..... but what would the mark on the underside of the toilet tank lid be if it WERE a meteorite? And I read the link up above that another user posted on determining meteorites and most of them pictured had a cracked up leathery appearance on the surface. Is this common of ALL meteorites?

It would not leave a mark.
The one thing you will never find in a Meteorite is a Void..In order to form a void you must have a air pocket and we all no there is no air in space only a vacuum.
Depending on the Meteorite, weathering determines the outside appearance, fresh meteorites tend to have smooth surfaces,

There are a lot of steel mills around the Baltimore area. It's probably a waste by-product from the steelmaking process. That's my guess.

That looks like a meteorite, i've come across a couple that one looks like it should weigh about 50grams, give these test a try

Test results

The results are in : You are not the owner of a space rock !
Apparently everything looked great except test results showed silica and traces of copper . Oh well , maybe next time .
