No markings. Steel, about an inch thick. Found it by the neighbor’s barn
Mudwhale you crack me upThose are very common around farm properties. They were known as Wife Cleats. They could be wedged between boards or cemented into the ground to chain wives to the particular tasks needed to be done. They were used in kitchens, milking stations, laundry areas and bedrooms. Did you find the cuffs and chains nearby?
Nice find!
I thought that at first, but there were no mounting holes on the tabs so I kept wondering. It's called a "pillow block", and it's made to hold a bearing.
Refer back to my post. No mounting holes was on purpose. A wife couldn't sneak a wrench or pliers into her apron, undo the bolts and escape. Our Forefathers learned from their mistakes.I thought that at first, but there were no mounting holes on the tabs so I kept wondering.
Mounting holes aren't always necessary.I thought that at first, but there were no mounting holes on the tabs so I kept wondering.
