Total Newbie saying salutations

Hello friendly MDers. I have been involved in peripheral hobbies in the past but now I can say officially, that I am on my way to becoming an MDer. I have the tool, I am putting in the time, watching Youtube both on my machine and the hobby in general, but so far have no finds other than some scrap metal and 6 ticks (found on pants almost immediately). When I make my first non junk find I may be more inclined to say that I am a MDer and not just on my way.
If you made it down this far thanks for reading, and in the future hope all your signals are strong.
Greetings from a fellow newbie to this forum. Might I suggest a re-reading of your user manual? Seems to hold secrets not revealed until the third or fourth reading. Maybe some practice focusing on one or two features at a time? Most newer models have features that are meant to make it easier for one to succeed but if they are not understood could cause one some frustration during the journey down the learning curve. If I may say, be of good courage, focus on the basics, place some coins along with some trash metal on the ground and practice identifying them. Practice does seem to take some of the worst bumps out of the road to success.

If I offend, I apologize. I am posting this understanding that you are completely new to this wonderful habit, as well as your machine being new to you. If my supposition is incorrect please disregard but do pass it along to someone that is, at this point in their adventure.

Happy Hunting. J
