Hello friendly MDers. I have been involved in peripheral hobbies in the past but now I can say officially, that I am on my way to becoming an MDer. I have the tool, I am putting in the time, watching Youtube both on my machine and the hobby in general, but so far have no finds other than some scrap metal and 6 ticks (found on pants almost immediately). When I make my first non junk find I may be more inclined to say that I am a MDer and not just on my way.
If you made it down this far thanks for reading, and in the future hope all your signals are strong.

Welcome from Iowa! I'm sure if you get your coil over it, you will find what you are looking for. Best luck I've had is in yards of older (1940s or older) homes. Happy hunting!

Welcome to the club.

We all find trash. You have to walk over it to find it. Some detectors are better not digging trash. Iron Discrimination and configuration also make a difference. Research is far better than randomly walking and hoping. I hope you have as much fun as I am. Good Luck.

Welcome from Florida!
The more you swing the more you will find.
Once you find a few cool things you will keep that new detector in your vehicle all the time!:D
GL and HH!

Howdy from NW WA State.
I'm also a noob, my first detector isn't even here yet, due 3/29.

Borrowed my neighbor's modest detector and found 99% rusty nails from my homes construction in 1992. Still enjoyed it a lot, can't wait to learn the ins & outs of interpreting the detector's signals to avoid digging what is no doubt obvious trash to an expert - but I think that's how they got good, by digging trash & listening.

Moving to Boise in a year, gotta get my PNW digging in before I go.

Steve
