thank you beefcake! I appreciate the comments my friend!VG-8 is registered in the red book as $1500 for 2012. A private buyer could pay that for it... I don't hold much stock in what the coin dealers will give... They like plenty of meat on the bone like a pawn shop would. I'd be proud to own it and have it graded like that no matter what anyone says! Awesome find!!! I'm not lumping all the coin dealers in together, but we have two here in town and one is a stand up guy...the other guy I wouldn't darken his door for anything....very unethical! Keep it and watch the value just keep rising my friend!!!
I'll give you $102,000,193 for it. We got a deal? You can give that to your son. He'll like that because he can buy all the 1916-D mercs in the world.
on your graded 1916 D, is it The King's imagination or is the coin a mint error? Your pics front and back show the obverse of the coin in a vertical plane and the view of the reverse shows the coin rotated about 10 degrees off vertical.....Is KT seeing something here or is it truly a mint error and not mentioned by the graders???????
I'm happy to just tell people that we are friends here on the FMDF. Someday I will make a trip to see you, and we will hunt together..I hope! That might be the best hunt I've ever been on. They (Discovery Chanel) should do a "reality show" of you going on hunt's..calling it .. "He smells Silver" LOL
I'd be proud of that coin too! You found a rare coin and I'm the first to admit, I'm jealous. You put in the time detecting and I'm glad you found it, you deserve it. Show that bad boy off!

yes you are correct, but I am told it is such a slight amount that it does NOT add any value.
yes sir!Well, get thee to a coin expert, because the King collects errors and He believes that a knowledgeable coin dealer will tell you it would add 10 to 20% retail value for that "slight" error!
