I’ve been hunting a field where I found a ox shoe, Barber and Merc Dime and other things from the two homes that were near them 100+ Years ago. Recently I found a 1950 dog tag and today with the Legend I had a faint but good signal. After digging down a foot the accupointer hit a signal like it was ferrous. I dug a little more and popped a 1944 penny. I wondered if it were steel but the pinpointer showed it to be non ferrous so I checked my dirt pile again and got the ferrous signal again
and this time I cleared dirt from the remnants of a leather change purse with obvious coin prints.. I could see coins and was hoping for silver. But, upon unfolding I could see three more wheat Pennies. Altogether there was a 1940, 41, 44 and 1945.
Not sure why I was getting ferrous signal on the clump of coins since they showed non ferrous separately. I guess I need to hunt where people were not so poor. Who carry’s just pennys..
Pics below (rivets and buckle seperate finds and not related to change purse)
