The Royal Mailbox was loaded with many goodies when KT arrived back at the Castle from lunch today!

First there were 2 1893 Colombian Exposition Commemorative 90%Ag halves.....first picture! You may wonder since the 400th year anniversary of 1492 would be 1892, why these coins date from 1893? Well, Me thinkest that this was something new for the US Mint and the coin's popularity was under anticipated by them, and people were upset when the mintage sold out, so they minted another year to satisfy that demand. Been done a few times since, like with the Arkansas State Centennial half and the Texas State Centennial half.

The second package contained 9 1961D Ben halves, one had traces of pink fingernail polish on it, but a quick wash with acetone and a q-tip cleaned it up nicely! Those are shown in the second picture.

And finally, last but not least, the third package contained 4 nice 1964 Kens, with one showing a bit of tarnish, from its travels to the Royal Kingdom. A quick bath and Ken is clean again! LOL

Anyway, His Majesty is very happy with these new visitors to the Royal Realm!

Ooooh Ooooh Ooooh! Columbian Exposition Halves! Your Majesty is stepping out a bit, and your Bens and Kens look like Royal Additions to the Imperial Coffers, very nice! Glad to see your Royal Medical Staff tidied up that one Ken, he did look rather travel and time worn when he arrived at the Royal Castle. Hearty Congratulations on an excellent start to the New Year!

Royal Thanks for your kind comments, LovestheShiney! Variety is the Spice of Life!

Wow! Starting off with a bang! Now I’m going to have to go searching for one of those exposition coins! Those two look to be in great shape too. Beautiful pictures - love the Bens and the Kens. The amazing look of SIL er just hits right! Congrats!

Royal Thanks, GroundSweeper! Your kind comments are always appreciated! There seems to be quite a few for sale on eBay, but most are too high priced for KT’s Royal Blood, but every once in a while, Kat manages to win some goodies! :kingdances: :kingdances:
I like the looks of this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/405485216517 for some reason the toning is attractive. $20 tho. Heck - just bought it. Unlike your Royal KT Highness, I only want one for the peasant collection

That one was a nice one! Good for you GroundSweeper! If you like the idea, you could make a bolo tie out of it and wear it proudly! And yep, that coin was almost double what KT budgets for halves, but yours has collectors value, Mine don't, they just have silver value and to people who have never seen one, those I got recently are just as cool as yours! Enjoy it!
