My CZ21 is already cracking!%$@*&!!!!

I had an issue with White's on a cracked case. I sent it in for a leak after the 2 years and they of course charged me for the repair. It was a black gasket case, and they waived the charge. First day back it leaked like a fryolator basket.
Sent it back with a letter and they sent me a whole new unit. That's White's.
You need a new case or a whole new machine plus an iron clad deal that assures you in case it happens again. It really sounds like there is some bad material used in those moldings I can understand a crack at one connection, but not all those.

I may need to get me another BHID and see if Whites will install a small coil on one?

Oh no, is this a rag on Fisher post?????

Slowly it is getting out that even the "bullet proof" CZ-21 has it's own problems.... At least yours turned on when you got it Larry..... I had to send mine back for another one when I bought it three years ago it would not make a sound.... it is with a different owner now and has been back to the factory 4-5 times now. His other CZ-21 has been back numerous times too and the same with yet another user in the area....Coil problems, manufacturing problems and a few leakage problems. I'm not so sure the Quality Control people are looking closely enough... great detector but far from "bullet proof"....please don't shoot it to prove me wrong like the guy that bought the Kevlar bass boat then complained when it didn't stop the bullet he shot at it!

When they are working, they are a great machine, and if no one comes out with another water machine to try soon, I just may have to try my luck at buying another one some day.....
Oh snap!

On the up side..... its not a CZ 20 where they will also charge you for conversion. Electronics, salt water, and bored 3rd world works with parts coming from everywhere.... and here what you get. I guess if it turn on off the line..... shes good to ship. Its just bad parts from the get go. Seems once these detectors are fixed they seem to work well even the Excals. Doesnt seem to be QC until the end of the process. Makes you wonder what the percentage of good to bad is...... 1 in 50 or less for the obvious damage... then there is the tuning process. Everyone that gets a new machine need to use it..... i mean use it and if there is an issue.... get the darn thing fixed. Never know what else they may find. Sure its down time if you only have one machine..... but once that warranty is gone its on you.

I definitely didn't sneak in and smash it with a hammer in order to stop you from finding the one or two squished and rotting coke can pieces that are the only thing left findable here for awhile. Nope nope, was not me!

What Cliff said! I bought a third CZ21 around the 4th of July this year because my other 2 were down. One was at Fisher for the 5th time and the other had a battery door gasket failure and got water logged. The third one right out of the box had cracks around the lugs on the battery door. I called Phil and he got me a new one from Fisher right away. Problem was that one was cracked too. So I ordered 2 more from Kellyco and both of them showed up cracked! They sent me 2 more and fortunately they knew what to look for and sent me 2 uncracked ones. I believe the cracks come from them pressing the metal threaded portion into the plastic when being manufactured. When my old Cliffy CZ came back from Fisher with just about everything having to be replaced it too had a cracked battery door. So I guess as long as the crack isn't near the rubber gasket area it will be OK. As for your other crack. You need to send that back. And be sure to address the cracked battery door with them.

I just found this thread while thinking about purchasing a CZ21. What troubles me most, is the statement I quoted above. I called KellyCo and specifically asked about the cracking problems with the CZ21 and if it was still an issue. I was told they had never heard of any cracking problems on the CZ21.

HUH???!

something similar happened to me ,no sooner did I get my cz from the dealer I opened the battery cover out of curiosity and over tightend the screws causing small hair line cracks around the same area as you ,kellyco took care of me and sent me a replacement cover for free pretty cool of them.

Follow the directions in the manual and it wont happen. Having said that, if it does, fisher will send you a new one for free asap from what I have seen on the forums. I have taken mine off/on many times without an issue but I follow the manual directions so I dont over tighten. And if you do break it and fisher wouldnt send a new one for some reason the piece is like $10 online.

When my handle broke off few years ago during a trip, I was totally done with it. "Build like a tank" in your dreams :ehh:

I'll take it off your hands lol. I checked mine today and it has hairline cracks down the casing by the screws. May have been my fault in over tightening it? Either way I've had it under water so much with the cracks that I'm not that worried about it. I'm not going several hundred feet below water. Cracks are so thin and small I might just lay some epoxy over the cracks and call it sealed ;)

You guys must be tightening the heck out of those battery door screws. 3 years and no cracks... *knock on wood*
