Some times I wish I hadnt purchased such a high end machine. After buying a Bounty Hunter Titan 2000 7 years ago and was not all that happy (because I didnt know how to use it) I purchased the Whites V3i with 2 extra coils for over $2000 still not knowing how to use a metal detector.
I became disabled shortly after getting it so it has been in a box for the last 6 years. I just got it out to learn how to use it by watching the videos and reading the advanced manual and then getting it out in the back yard to play with the settings. (found a nice gold ring!)
Well the other day I doubled up on the meds so I could go out detecting for a bit. I went to a park with 0 EMI, no power lines any where to be seen. I opened that thing almost wide open and was hitting on targets 13+" After digging signals that came up as foil/gold ring at 12 or more inches and getting little bits of foil for all the digging..... I was looking at setting it back from Starship range and more into the reality of what I could dig.
knowing how to use a detector is 50%, the other is getting a decent detector. I know I dont need something as powerful of programmable as a V3i when my body really cant constantly dig really deep targets (maybe a few) Im going to get my wife a Garrett AT Pro so we can go into the water with it, It easier for me to move in water.... less stress on my joints.
