Went out with NuBlu today for a 4-hour pre-sunrise hunt. Even though I got some greenies throughout the hunt, they were sporadic and mainly light dimes. I got the silver ring in the 1st part of the hunt. As I was returning just past the halfway point in deeper water, I saw a couple of dark objects in the water. I wave my coil over them and 1 was a stick, but the other object definitely made a loud noise. As I picked it up with my scoop and looked    . At first, I thought that maybe it was a toy, but then I saw “Glock” and knew it was the real deal :gunbandanna:– polymer frame with metal upper. There were people around, so I stealthily put it in my pouch and continued hunting. I was in total shock for about an hour. After some time, the weight on my pouch was getting annoying so I stopped and put it in my water bladder backpack. The unmarked silver pendant came at some point later. (Tested “925” at home).

At home, I spoke with one of my law enforcement friends and took various pictures of the gun and sent them to him. He noted that the serial #’s had been removed, and as you can tell in the picture, the trigger was burned. I have given the gun a freshwater bath. Since the gun was probably involved in a crime, I have called Miami Beach Police and reported it. Officers took less than an hour from my call to pick up the gun. I got a case card and it is now “Found Property”. I am hoping I can get it back as it is a nicer weapon than my S&W 9mm. Unfortunately, I did not notice that I had inadvertently taken a crematory tag. That’ll go back out there the next time I go there to detect. I have now gone 15 hunts without gold, and it is my longest slump ever. But I can now check finding a firearm off my list!

Wow, totally cool find there Felix. That’s not a Glock frame so likely it’s never had a serial number. Barrel could be aftermarket and non-serialed as well. Weird it got all melty, be interesting to know if they find anything out about it. Don’t see that every day! I always wanted to dig up an old 1911 myself, but I’d settle for a Colt SAA too

You just turned in a perfect ghost gun ! Damn , should have kept it. Don't think you are gonna get that back without a serial #. But Florida is different. Could have been the Tupac murder gun. Worth $$$ at auction.

Yeah, I missed the aftermarket frame. Awesome grip on that by the way. My officer friend signaled out this picture where he pointed out to me where the serial # was removed.

Wow I’ve see people find guns but not one that where still useable. Was it loaded?
The magazine was missing and there wasn't one in the chamber. After some freshwater flushing it still slid nicely. The trigger needs to be replaced. If I get it back I'll get it all nice and pretty again.

They can usually "bring back" the serial number with some acid and polarized light.
They probably won't go to all that trouble. Weird that it looks like the trigger is melted. But it seems that gun is pieced together or custom. And the trigger is usually the 1st to be upgraded. Notice the trigger guard itself has been customized. Right underneath where the ring finger would fit up against the mag stock appears to be dremeled for a more secure , tighter grip.

I agree.. you want a glock, open up your wallet....
That glock is toast , not worth the money to reincarnate it , I am with Craig , I would think you would want a reliable arm to boot , actually I wouldn't want to find a gun unless it's civil war , worse than finding androids & I phones

It is melted. There are burn marks on the inside of the trigger guard as well. The bottom of both sides of the grip show some melt/burn as well.

Probably a murder weapon, first they filed the serial #s off, then they burned it to get DNA off of it, then finally they through it in the salt water to eat the steel , hope the cops keep it , could be Karma with that junk :worms::hide: PS The mob is probably searching for you for recovering that evidence
