Hi all - I found these along a cart path on a farm in central MA that dates to the mid-1700s and was active through the end of the 19th century. They are quite large and seem to have long pointy ends in the rear.curious if @Longhair or others with knowledge about horseshoes might be able to shed a little light on them. Interesting they were found within a 10 foot radius and the two larger were right next to each other - so it may have been where they were shoeing the horses, though it’s quite far from the barn which still exists. Rounded the day out with a musket ball and a cuff link that I need to clean up. The shoes are in the evaporust and I’ll post some after pictures once they are done. Thanks for looking.

They look to me like they were being repurposed as large staples. Possibly as part of a gate hanger? Or an axle shackle?
Interesting that the one shown from the toe was toe-clipped, not that toe clips are uncommon, but that it hadn't been flattened out for whatever new purpose it was going to serve.
