Indian Head spill and a big green surprise (REVEALED)

I'll give you a dollar for it . ok ? After all, it's probably only a blank slug. Deal ? Deal ? :cool3:

By “regular issue” I think we all thought we were talking about this country...

Oh, sorry. I didn't realize that phrase has that connotation. I just meant it's not a collector's coin, pattern, token, etc.... Regular issue regardless of country. I'll go back and clarify in that post.

Clue summary:

-Deep green patina
-Not a Matron large cent or half cent.
-Slightly larger than a large cent.
-A bit thinner than a half cent.
-It's a coin intended for circulation and not a token, medallion, collector's issue, etc...
-Mintage of the coin (any year) does not overlap with large cent or half cent.
-Found on a 1900 property near late 1800s Indian Head cents.
-King George II and III were getting closer, but not a King George of any type.
-There is an eagle on the reverse
-not a blank slug!

Ha. No, not a slug. I'm not claiming it's a particularly valuable coin, but it's not a common find either. I looked back through the search results and found about four or five mentions of it in the past three years. Half of those were outside the US, and most of the coins were completely toasted. This one is fairly slick, but the patina is amazing. I know you appreciate the green!

Congrats on the Indian spill Soldier, it is not a common occurrence by any means. My guess on your mystery coin is a 3 Cent Nickel. Trapper

Not a 3 cent nickel. Thanks for the congrats. I found the Indian Head cent spill early in the hunt, so it was all gravy after that. I picked up a 1920 Mercury dime, too.

I will venture a guess of a British Queen Victoria large cent, the era of the indians and the green patina fit.

Did any old Brittish coins have an Eagle on them?

This is the only 1 I found that wasn’t gold. But he said not a token

Making another guess a Flying Eagle. Which was my original thought. Trapper

Not flying eagle. (I wish!)

That's a great spill right there! Congrats!

Thanks! Check out DrWhy's penny spill! https://metaldetectingforum.com/showthread.php?t=278758

Ha! Not 1900s.

1856 Flying Eagle One Cent Coin

Nope.

I will venture a guess of a British Queen Victoria large cent, the era of the indians and the green patina fit.

Not a cent/penny.

This is the only 1 I found that wasn’t gold. But he said not a token

Not a token. Good try.
Was there a Vicky with an eagle 1870’s?

You're close on the date. A little older.
