How Many People Coin Roll Hunt?

I got 27 rolls of half dollars and there was nothing older than 1971!
Somebody must have beat me to it! :(

It may be that they were rolled at the bank. I find that if they're rolled at the bank that its usually bad luck-- most tellers collect coins and pick them out before they get rolled. The ones that we get are from the FED delivered to our bank.. Somtimes you get great luck (as you can see with our finds on the previous page) and sometimes you just get a bad batch.. Don't let it get you down though-- it takes patience :) Just keep reinvesting your money and you'll find some!

That's the best part of it, it doesn't cost anything. I've gone through $180 worth in the last week, I've been slightly obsessed with it since I found silver in my first batch.:D

I bought one roll yesterday, and nabbed 5 40% silvers. It was a hand rolled roll from a nationwide bank. If I open an account with them they can order a box from the FED for me :)

Coin rolling!

I went to my bank to find out that they do not readily carry halves...where are you all getting them from? I got $25 in dollar coins, $50 in dimes and $25 in pennies. I found 7 wheaties...nothing special, and a potential error (2003-P dime with missing clad. I also found 4 dimes with larger rims than the others...I think these are errors as well. My bank will sell me halves, but I have to buy the box ($500). I am considering doing this...

I just tryed coin roll hunting for the first time. After $10 worth of pennies I found a 52 wheaty a 32 wheaty a 65 canadian 1 cent piece and also found that I do not have the patience to coin roll hunt, but at least I gave it a shot.

Coin rolling!

I am discouraged as well. I went through a box of halves and found 1-1968 40% silver half. Here is the funny part though: I am taking all of the coins I went through so far ($670) and paying my rent with it ;) My landlord allows me to deposit the rent into her checking account. I am telling ya, I might keep coin rolling each month...$670...$670...$670 ;)

Can you buy half dollar rolles at any bank or do you have to have an account with that bank?? This might be a very stupid question but I dont go to banks often..

Sounds like a perfect plan to me! Take out 670 a month in coins and look through them and then deposit them in a different bank with the landlords account!

rolling!

I bank with Fifth Third and they are not very "coil-rolling"-friendly. I can order a box from them, but it takes 2 weeks...go figure! Chase (whom I do not have an account with) normally has halves on supply for its customers and will sell to non-customers. I ordered a box from them and they should be in on Tuesday of next week.

Does anyone keep the 1976 halves or quarters? Someone told me they thought they were worth more than face value but i cant find that anywhere.

Those are the bicentennial coins. They are not worth much, if anything from a collectors standpoint but they will be someday!

Some are silver ("S" mintmark) but were not released for circulation, byut that doesn'r mean a few didn't sneak out.

Not bad Brian. You are keeping an eye out for the war nickles right?

I'd say it's pretty good! I went through 25 in pennies and only found 2 wheats! Went through around $100 in nickels so far with nothing found either. You sure are lucky brianvickers83.
