Thanks Phil,

Good to see you again and thanks for the deal on the Vibra-Probe.

Small world, American Digger magazine (Sept/Oct page 7) I have seen the 1st-2nd century cockerel chatelaine for real when Pete found it.

That is awesome, I'd love to find a really old gold coin or jewelry item like that.

Given the choice between a gold coin and Doug's seal, I would take the seal every time. Any one could have lost a gold coin. The seal is a very personal thing and has a compelling story behind it. That seal is the find of a lifetime.

Failing to find a seal, I would obviously love to find a gold coin ;)

Doug, that is an absolutely stunning, beautiful find! Thank you for sharing it with us on the forum. Certainly hope you get to keep it. Don't think I saw if you said what type of site you found it on. Was it in a field or along a known old roadway? Or perhaps a known old village site? Please keep us updated with any more history on the find that you discover

I have seen but not found this type of seal in silver but never in gold.

Thank you.

Nothing special about the field but there is an ancient wood which runs along the top of the field which would have attracted hunting parties in times gone by?
