Not really a lot of difference except from directly out from the tip. Both are very good pinpointers.

Both are easy to use and change settings are very similar for both of them. Click on image to make bigger. Side means 1/2" down from the end tip measuring the 360 degree side distance to the dime. The nickel slide hack is where you move a nickel from the bottom side of the detector up past the button until it beeps and you then backup the nickel just where it stops beeping. This will give pinpointers additional depth. I don't have any bias toward either pinpointer. But have used the Carrot for about 8 years and it is still working fine. The carrot uses the more expensive 9 volt battery and the F-Pulse uses the less expensive two AA batteries. That is something to consider if you are pinching your pennies. I bought the F-Pulse as a backup. I will probably take both of them with me on my hunts.

The F Pulse/Tek Point pinpointers being pulse induction, don’t show their true abilities until they are used on in the ground targets. They are not as “deep” in air tests and they aren’t very sensitive to really small targets.

Additionally,
The FPulse has a "hidden" menu that is not listed in the manual. You can get to it by pressing/holding the button in a certain pattern.
Carl posted the instructions a long time ago. It's on the net somewhere I'm sure.

The huge difference between the F Pulse and the Garrett Carrot is the F pulse is a PI (Pulse Induction) pin pointer and the Garrett Carrot is a VLF two completely different technologies
Would that mean the PI does better on small gold targets? I really don't know the answer to that question.

I took both pinpointers out on a volleyball court and totlot hunt this morning. Both pretty much acted the same in locating targets, but the Garrett carrot was almost twice as loud to my ears. I notice that the Carrot has a speaker grill by the button that lets the audio have a path to the outside world. The Fisher F Pulse has its speaker grill at the pinpointer end by the battery screw cap. I don't know if that is the difference. I think the difference is the way I hold both pinpointers. I hold it with the button facing up most of the time. Thus the carrot's speaker grill is facing upward towards my ears. I hold the F-pulse the same way and the speaker is facing toward my knees and thus not getting the audio towards my ears. If I point the end cap speaker up, it sound about the same as the Carrot. Of course the vibration seems to work the same for both pinpointers.

I have a F Pulse ordered that should be here in a few days. I have used the Garrett AT for many years and it is excellent all around. I do have a few sites where the mineralization can be troublesome & hope the F Pulse will be easier to keep balanced to not false in the hole. I have the Nokta Pulse Dive & it works well but I find it sluggish & bulky. I can rebalance the Garrett, but it loses some sensitivity. If the F Pulse doesn't work as I hope it will be @jmaclen 's fault. I ordered one because of him.:hornetsnest:

Good luck with the "hope the F Pulse will be easier to keep balanced to not false in the hole". Mine falses a lot both on different ground conditions and due to EMI and detector crosstalk. I have learned to noise cancel my detectors with the F Pulse ON and to keep my detector's coil well away from the F Pulse when using that pinpointer. Starting up the F Pulse near the ground helps sometimes to "balance" it......sometimes not. They can be noisy, chatty, erratic but they are really deep.

^This.

The F-Pulse is finicky until you start to understand what's going on and know how to tame it. The F-Pulses's in ground depth is far superior to my Carrott and Nokta pointer.

I have specific scenarios in which the superior depth of a PI pinpointer is very beneficial, otherwise I prefer a good VLF for stability and much better sensitivity to small nonferrous targets.

Small foil will bang out hard on a detector (especially if a smaller coil and a higher frequency is used), but a PI pinpointer won't detect that small foil unless it's almost touching the pinpointer...and sometimes it won't detect it all. With a PI pinpointer, you can spend hours trying to find that small foil lol.

If I remember correctly, small bits of iron were detected far better on my F-Pulse and Pulse Dive than they were on my VLF pinpointers. If that is true, then it might be a cause of some of the erratic behavior of the PI pinpointers.

if you can locate the hidden menu instructions please post them here, this is the first I have heard about hidden menus in the F Pulse

I couldn't find any info on a hidden menu. The only thing I found is this:

"I found out the trick to quickly turning off/on the LED...
It's not in the manual (that I could see), but if you hold the button just a little too long on power-up, there's apparently a nice little feature that quickly toggles the LED on/off state.

If (like me) you accidentally turn the LED off by holding the power on button too long, just:
1. Turn off the pinpointer.
2. Press the button to turn it on...and continue to hold...until the LED turns back on.

This will happen very quickly, so as soon as you see the light, let go of the button.
Otherwise it will continue on to the brightness level adjustment sequence.

If you're in an area you'd prefer to hunt in anonymity...or if you'd just like to save battery...you can quickly toggle the LED on/off this way."

Carl mentioned that he had put this in his original manual, but it got left out of the final.

Thanks for your reply

one of the biggest things I do not like about the F Pulse is there is no volume level settings that I have been able to locate and also the F Pulse is very easy to inadvertently change settings in, what few settings it has

My biggest issue with the F Pulse is I cannot hear mine at all and the Vibration is so weak you cannot tell when you are near a target, i have the Nokta/Macro 2 in 1 pulse Dive also which I do like but the dang thing is heavy and to large, my favorite pin pointer is my Quest X Pointer Maxx with the Magic Holster
