Florida Detecting And Reality

Anybody have decent sand bars yet?

Was in destin a few weeks ago and the sand bars were awesome! Well, I hate them because when I fish from the surf it makes it that much harder to land the beasts! There was the typical double bar, and its been the same every time I have went in the past 2 years. At least a dozen trips.

One of the best detecting days i ever had was the same day i was cracking up at a guy fishing casting out and seeing his pyaramid sinker plop right on top of a sandbar with about an inch of water on top of it. You see sandbars that good you best put the fishing poles up and break out the detector.

Luckily my wife doesn't read this, i just told her I needed a new dectector for all that gold on the beach:laughing::lol:
I did let her see that show and told her "Look one day I will scream out BOOM BABY" and we can retire :lol:

Just got back from a cruise, took the detector and only got to use it once in Roatan, found a few bottle caps and that was it.
I took a look around and noticed most of the tourists did not have there jewelry on besides a ring and small earrings.
Glad we brought the snorkeling gear the reef is beautiful there.

Our beaches here are tough, I go to them and if I find something then that is a plus.

3 hours on NE Florida beaches = $0.08, 4 aluminum cans, 12 bottle caps, and 7 oz of trash.

After coming home with my $800 metal detector and $200 scoop, my 9 year old found a quarter at school which is 3x the amount I found and without spending a grand on MD'g equipment.

I have logged hundreds of hours on the L.I. beaches and many days I've gone home with just 35 cents in my pocket. Now I've also had my good days as my posts will attest. It's only a hobby. And I tell myself that every time I go out. If I find something good, great. If I don't, well then I'll just keep looking.
