Yesterday afternoon I returned to a permission - where they’re tearing out behind a 1865 building in town. They’ve dug out some dirt and are planning to pour some concrete down.

I haven’t found my dreams of seated half dimes or local tokens, but it’s turned up a few goodies I’ve posted previously about.

Yesterday the first and mostly only good find was my first ever IHP and my new oldest coin (by 10 years) at 1901.

I know that’s only 122 years old, but I’m trying - what can I say.

Anyway I couldn’t believe it when I saw it was an Indian. The signals at this place are awful - so much iron and other metals in the ground - this didn’t sound 100% great but it had a tinge of goodness to the tone. Unlike all the other similar targets after this, this one turned out to not be a rusty nail bit, but a toasty 1901 Indian!

I’m pretty stoked. I cleaned it with a toothpick and some 0000 steel wool under water. I don’t think I’m going to mess with it any further. Just glad I finally found an IHP!

Hope to break into the 1800’s some day, but this location may not have many if any hunts left in it - have to see.

HH out there!

Congrats G.S! I'm surprised you aren't swimming in seated silvers and Indian heads up there in gold mining country!
Oh! Also gold coins galore!

Thank you - it's been fun. Maybe get back there one or two more times if they move any more dirt around - we'll see.
