I recently found a iPhone x buried in the wet sand at a local saltwater beach and after not being able to dry it out, with rice ,blow dryer and what not I decided to sell it for parts, now the phone itself looked brand new no cracks/ scratches just totally drowned I tried to charge it and it lit up then died .I listed it on e-bay stating its condition and it went on auction for a week the first winner didn't pay so I relisted it for a three day auction just wanted to be done with it by this time .after the end of the auction the buyer asked me for the imei of the phone I didn't know what this was so he explained its the phones id apparently there's a web site that gives you the current status of the phone, shortly after receiving the phone he messages me that he wanted a refund even though the listing clearly stated no returns saying that the phone had been reported loss or stolen and was locked. we went back and forth with this for about a week until ebay intervened giving him a full refund and on top of that I am on the hook for the sales commission the buyer was obviously a phone salesman as all his listings deal with phones and he even told me how this was going to end needless to say I am done with fee-bay and phones all together not worth the hassle stick to gold silver and clad sorry for the rant but just had to vent has anybody else had issues with cellphones and if so how do you sell them
I Sell them as PARTS ONLY! in the listing. I note very clearly that it was a found phone, and owner was unable to be located. Describe it all, as noted, and note that the phone was drowned.
In the end, EBay will always side with the buyer. They just do... It's a risk, and lousy, at that. You should be able to get your phone back, though, if you pay shipping... then you could relist.
Skippy.
Leave negative feedback.
The ebay/paypal scheme is a little wacky. I guess they figure lots of sellers not too many buyers.
Got an email from ebay stating USA starts charging tax on all ebay purchases.
Unfortunately as a seller, you can no longer leave negative feedback for a buyer.
Yep, it depends on the State you're in, but they're working to support all states. It was a real shocker, the first time I purchased something under the new tax guidelines. It's not like it shows up, when you're bidding. LOL

Is it only Ebay.com or do they target us citizen? For example no tax on Ebay.ca or ebay.uk
I was under the impression that someone would have to sell beyond a certain annual threshold before taxes are a concern...Besides do you really need to collect taxes on used items? Does that mean I need to start collecting taxes when I have a garage sale?

that's exactly what he did .he told them the phone was stolen not going to bother with it anymore not worth the aggravation just closed my ebay accountHave you tried disputing the negative transaction against you with eBay?
Is there any reason why the guy can't / won't send the phone back?
Did eBay tell you why he doesn't have to return the phone?
Do you still have the imei number (should be in your eBay emails)? You might want to find out if the guy you gave the imei number to, reported it lost / stolen. I would think that would be filing a false police report. Did you ship the item through USPS? If he used the imei number, reported stolen & now took his money back & you'd shipped it through USPS, you might have a case of mail fraud which I believe is a Federal Offense.
I'm thinking the guy got the imei from you, reported it stolen, showed eBay you were selling a stolen phone, took your phone & got his money back.
I'd find the website he used to find out when the phone was reported lost / stolen. Do some research. Maybe a phone call to his local PD might result in his arrest, if he has stolen property. If he reported the phone lost / stolen, now he's filled a false police report.
I think you are starting to see how you got scammed, & now it's your move to have Karma come knocking on his door.
