done with cell phones

I’ve had multiple root canals that I deemed most painful. Until the one time I tried to sell on eBay.

Never rule feebay out. I even sold the couple 24K chains i found for big bucks. Way over melt. I sell a bunch of stuff on there, including old clocks. You word your stuff right, you protect yourself. Also if you ship to a foreign country Feebay protects you. Call them on the phone and talk to a human. They are good at putting fear to rest. We even ship phones to foreign countries on feebay:wow: Iphone10 usually sells for up to $400 if it is water damaged:shock:

I recently found a iPhone x buried in the wet sand at a local saltwater beach and after not being able to dry it out, with rice ,blow dryer and what not I decided to sell it for parts, now the phone itself looked brand new no cracks/ scratches just totally drowned I tried to charge it and it lit up then died .I listed it on e-bay stating its condition and it went on auction for a week the first winner didn't pay so I relisted it for a three day auction just wanted to be done with it by this time .after the end of the auction the buyer asked me for the imei of the phone I didn't know what this was so he explained its the phones id apparently there's a web site that gives you the current status of the phone, shortly after receiving the phone he messages me that he wanted a refund even though the listing clearly stated no returns saying that the phone had been reported loss or stolen and was locked. we went back and forth with this for about a week until ebay intervened giving him a full refund and on top of that I am on the hook for the sales commission:mad: the buyer was obviously a phone salesman as all his listings deal with phones and he even told me how this was going to end needless to say I am done with fee-bay and phones all together not worth the hassle stick to gold silver and clad sorry for the rant but just had to vent has anybody else had issues with cellphones and if so how do you sell them

I feel your pain. I hate feebay now after selling a laptop. The buyer wanted a refund because it didnt meet his expectations after installing software on it. Which was totally on him. He then tried to get me to send him more stuff like a better computer and I told him no, Im not a dealer. But the bigger problem was that even though the auction stated no refunds, feebay still has their stupid money back guarantee and they will still honor the buyers request.
I was lucky that the guy finally decided to keep the laptop but then he had the nerve to leave unfair neutral feedback which I have never had. I was so pi$$ed that I called ebay and explained the situation and how this guy was a scammer, then left feedback that was completely unfair. Plus I had emails through their system which they reviewed, so they came back and said yeah we'll remove the neutral feedback for ya. Thank goodness but needless to say, I will never sell electronics on that site again. Not worth the drama to me anymore.

Yes, you gotta go though some hoops sometimes with the unscrupulous types. I also had another cell phone that I sold recently that the buyer knew the phone was "for parts" but said it was really badly corroded and full of sand inside. He told me he's a dealer and normally buys phones for parts. (The phone had bloated and exploded allowing sand and salt water in). He sent me pictures of the insides and I believe he was being honest. I told him to keep the phone and I refunded everything but the shipping to him. Neither of us lost money. He was pleased with our arrangement and gave me excellent feedback. Items that I can sell other than gold and silver are just icing on the cake for me. Sunglasses, cell phones whatever - they're all just nice little extras in the game.

Cell phone finds have vagarious payback...I've made some money on some and not a nickel on some others...The most I got for a 'return to owner' was $100 reward I think...I sold a few drowned ones to a guy who works the counter at a cell phone store who was parting them out for a bit of money, but he no longer works there...

I sold a few for cash on CL...I found a real beauty Samsung yesterday that I returned to the guy and didnt get a nickel...I try to find the owner if I can, but you just dont know if the attempt is appreciated or even safe to do anymore...

So yeah, finding a cell phone is getting to be more of a curse than a blessing for me...sorta like finding a Class ring...Yeah its initially worth something, but may or may not be of any benefit to me!...

Nobody cares about empty cans, and I get a solid dime each for them and dont have to try to locate the original purchaser and ask if they want their dime back! One empty ditch can was worth more to me than that nice Samsung I found yesterday..I'd rather find a load of empty cans than a phone now a days!.

On the contrary mudpuppy : The can that is third from the left in your picture, was mine. Please send me my dime. Okay ? :impatient:

Ebay usually sides with the buyer (this has happened to me too), however when they do the seller fee is usually refunded to you. Sell those kind of items "for parts or repair" and no refunds. Sorry you had to deal with this, however ebay is good for reaching the most people to sell an item. Good luck.

Very true Larry. I have a friend who helps me sell on ebay. She does the listing and negotiating, and I do the shipping. Has worked out very well for the past 4 years. I have learned that people will buy anything..... (Will see you soon buddy...)

My experience shows you get a reward for iPhones and you do not get anything for androids. Weird, eh?

Ebay used to be fun and profitable until they allowed the lying scumbag cheater minority to take over. The asylum is now run by the inmates.
Back when I first started finding nice jewelry in 2012-13 I sold a lot of nice silver and Gold things instead of just scrapping them. I wasn't making a killing but doing much better than melt.

Then ebay changed to favor the buyer, any buyer and screw the sellers. Fees went up and the loons came out. 3 out of 5 auctions would be a hassle with the buyer not paying, paying a week and a half later, wanting to return stuff after having it for a week yada yada BULLPELLETS. Enough was enough.

Now I just scrap everything or give it away.

Well that's interesting....? I have a few of both kicking around, but have not tried to sell any yet.

I never sold any. I find an owner and try to return the phone. If I am given a reward I take it, if not it is OK too. And once again I never got any rewards from android owners. One Samsung owner went as far as saying she did not have time to go and pick her phone up and suggested I should bring it to her.

... One Samsung owner went as far as saying she did not have time to go and pick her phone up and suggested I should bring it to her.

Well that's an odd one. But ... that would seemingly be rare. I would think that the vast majority would be grateful, and make for satisfying reunions. I mean, seems that people would want their pictures back that might have been on there, etc...

Not every effort is an odd-ball like that, fortunately.

"...and would you like some fries with that?" That's just unbelievable. :wow:

I sell only in person. I get way more for droids than for iPhones. Recently found a nice iPhone in the morning. Got home at noon , opened up the cover and it had an I'd and credit card. I was charging up the phone and going to try to track down the owner later that evening. About 4 hours later , a guy shows up at my door ! He has another phone in his hand and tracked his phone through the iPhone tracker. Be careful. He was in hysterics and yet happy at the same time. I was glad I gave it back to him. At least I didn't have to do any work tracking him down. But I didn't like him just showing up at my door. Most iPhones are locked. My reward ? A big fat $ZERO$. But I'm hoping karma comes my way...

Post their ebay user name so we can all block them.

I have a MASSIVE list of blocked bidders on ebay. Many of the coin dealers I do business with, have a shared list of all the idiots that have wronged us in the past so they cannot bid on our auctions. It's YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE. See below and feel free to copy and use this list in your own ebay stores. Every person on this list has done something scummy to piss off a seller and earned a spot on this list. (non-paying bidders, scammers, feedback or refund extortion etc). Hopefully none of our members are on this list.
