On a windy and grey Seattle day, my dad and I started at 11am and caught the end of low tide. The wind was howling and the raindrops felt like zincolns falling from the sky. Regardless, we dashed out of the car ready to dig pirate booty. The VERY FIRST target I dug was a barber dime... or so I thought. I assumed it was a barber because of the faint wreath on the back. It turned out to be an 1876 Seated! Sadly, the rest of the beach yielded nothing else too old.

The tide pushed us off the beach by around 12:30pm and we headed for the dirt. When we left the beach, a little girl asked us what we found. I told her we found all sorts of garbage and about tree fiddy in clad. It was about that time that I noticed that this girl was no girl at all. She was about 500 feet tall and a monster from the Paleolithic Era.

After running away from the sea monster into a nearby park, we had 2-hours without anything significant (2 zincolns, 3 dimes, and 1 quarter). I was getting disappointed because the area had so much potential. It's odd that every time I lament "There's nothing here", the earth produces a 12-45 signal @ 6 inches. Bam! Out popped an 1899 dime.

At this point, I joked about making a trifecta like we occasionally see on the forum.

About 10 minutes later, my dad called me to check out a deep zincoln signal (6 inches, 76 | 5 inches, 11-36). I ended up digging it since it was relatively deep and we were rewarded with a 1897 Indian.

Another 10 minutes later, my dad found two nice targets within 5 feet from another. I dug the first one and saw that silver rim of a 1941 Mercury (5 inches, 86 | 4 inches 12-46). Luckily enough, the other target was a 1951 Rosie (4 inches, 82 | 4 inches 12-45) which completed a quadfecta for that day.

Two wheats were also found (1944, 1940).

I guess it's not a TRUE Quadfectica for me since our finds were split up... but we had fun! Also, it was quite neat that the coins came in order: Seated:Barber:Merc:Rosie

Happy Hunting!

Edit: This story was partially written on 8/29/2015 but finished today on 8/30/2015. We revisited the site and found 5 1940's/50's wheats, 2 buffalos (1935, dateless), and 2 pieces of .925 jewelry.

Great story! I think a quad shared with Dad counts in my book , I'd kill to hunt or fish or do anything with my dad . Great pics! HH , Dew

Love those "white sandy" beaches you guys have in the PNW! ;):D

Congrtaz on some nice coin grabs!

I agree with the above, a grand slam with dad is even better than done alone!

Big congrats gentlemen!!

X2 Sounds like great fun! My Dad thinks MDing is interesting, but has no practical use for it, other than having me find his property markers.
