My wife was good enough to hit the bank for me today.
Mostly wanted a roll of halves but bank claimed they didn't have any. Geesh, if the bank doesn't, who does?
Ended up with 4 rolls of pennies, 1 dimes, 2 quarters.
Nothing special but it was still fun and passed the time whilst I'm laid up.
Found many key dates for the pennies but none with errors and no wheats. No silver either.
8 - 1984 pennies but don't think any have the extra ear lobe.
I've heard some tellers frown on providing coins so told my wife if they say anything, we want them to fill easter eggs  but they didn't even give her a hard time.
So, what's the best way to get halves then? Should just check some other banks?
Too bad they don't have change machines anywhere, something like coinstar except to get coins "out"...lol

Halves are hard to come by since they do not mint them for circulation anymore. Even the change drawers in most registers do not have a slot for them. Try the older banks, or take a short road trip to small towns.. they usually have them. RickO

ok i get $2000 a week in halves. What you need to do is go to your bank, tell them what you are planning on doing, like i would like to order some half dollars to look through, to try to find some of the older ones, and if they ask why say you would like a part of old history to pass down to the kids, don't say i just want the silver. Then simply ask if there is any way they can order you some once a week, or once a month or what ever. When banks order half dollars a box normaly comes in $500, so be ready to have some cash if they allow you to order them. Good luck and let us know if you get any.;)

I have $100 worth of change that I have saved, found, rolled, etc... that I take to the bank weekly to trade in. You want to talk about the looks and questions...why would you just want more of what you have? You gotta play with their minds  . No really I picked out a bank close to work and have a teller who knows me, she saves all the hand rolled coins and I usually go see her to trade in. Plus she keeps any wheats/silver she finds, which so far is two Rosie dimes but there will be more.

So far I have traded the $100 three times and have found no silver, and hand full of wheats, and several forign coins. However I have the books of coins for all denominations and have filled most of them, now I need the older stuff which is somewhat hard to come by.

Oh well it passes the time on a Friday night as well.
