I tried to update a Deus 2 on Saturday, and the software would never see the remote or the WS6. I tested the USB port, and it works with a thumb drive, no problem.

I used the three headed cable for the remote, and the single cable for the WS6.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Thanks for the help.

I had to make sure the software was downloaded and running, the USB disconnected, then connect the USB. Doing things in a different order, such as having the USB connected when running or downloading the software did not work for me.

It also says V 0.6 on the software when my machine was running v 0.6 already. This is a known bug, but I didn't know it was a bug at the time, and found it very confusing. The only way I was sure that the upgrade eventually took was that the "new" v 0.6 had the big number screen as an option.

It also deleted my custom programs, which pissed me off. Don't know if this happened to anyone else. Just note your custom program settings beforehand in case this happens.

You just have to play with it. Its poorly engineered, and it took me 20 minutes, but it will work if you hack at it for a bit. I hope any of this is helpful. I wish I had a cookbook to post, but there is a video I posted in another thread that you can find on youtube that makes the process easier. Googling "Deus II update video" should get you there. Sorry I don't have the link handy.

Gotcha. Do you think the timing of making the screw in connection on the remote critical?

I feel like I tried every possible iteration of the order of things, but maybe I'll try again.

The video on line made it look so easy, and I just couldn't get it to start the update. Pretty weird. It seems like all the update able detectors are kinda finicky about things. I kinda just want to get to the point where it's like "Update over WiFi, Yes or No?"....

Looks like the updater just didn't like that PC. Maybe it is the Kid-proofing software, who knows.

Dug out the old abandoned laptop, and the updater worked just like in the YT videos.

Weird.

I only had 1 custom program in there, and it was gone. Kind of a bummer, but I'm glad I was able to check all my hardware out and get the software to work.

Thanks for the help.
