Detector testers.

That's what i mean, the Legend is supposed to be boxed and ready to go also.

But not while it's being tested by outside testers.

The testers for the Legend received their units weeks, if not months ago. But as of today, 1/3/2022, I'm not aware of any Legends being shipped to distributors.

It looks like you're trying to compare XP and N/M's testing policies and strategies to conclude one company is less shady than the other. While it's possble one company is more or less dodgy than the other, based on the facts stated in this thread so far, I don't think any of us can draw that conclusion.

It should be decent, if it was available before the Nox it would have sold hundreds of thousands.
But time has moved on, the D2 looks like it has raised the bar and in doing so a new detector that performs as good or nearly as good as a Nox isn't going to be enough imho, especially as you can buy a 2nd hand Nox800 still in warranty for cheap.

I think it will be a great machine, but the price is just a little high imo, at least I think it is.

You could be right and time will tell. But I've seen a significant influx of used Equinox 600s and 800s on message boards and social media selling sites. I interpret this as a sign that many Equinox users are switching to the Deus II. I could be wrong, though.

Can someone point me to an actual video of someone using the D2 on an actual coin hunt where there is modern trash. Like in a park setting. Sure I relic hunt occasionally where there is iron only. I want to see one working a trashy spot or at least a yard for coins.

That's what I'm worried about, not diving or relic only sites. I would guess divers are a tiny minority followed by relic hunters and folks that detect the beach. Most are land hunters and are hunting yards and parks etc..

MSRP $949 vs $1,599. I can't believe these are being compared as equal. Does say a lot for the Equinox 800. Although, from what I have seen the Deus II is the top dog.

Similar thing happened when the Apex came out...not saying it's ok, but that it's inevitable and to be expected.

Big discounts on the original Deus in the UK at the moment also, saving £200/$270+ on a full setup.

It's XP's flagship model, what price will the CTX replacement be??

It doesn't appear Calabash is a beta tester for this product as we are hearing they are already (or soon to be) shipping. I agree with others that it is likely there were other testers who probably were under NDA and were providing to feedback XP.

I'm not surprised about the price of the Deus II, but that a $1,599 detector is being compared to a $949 one.

Times have changed from the $1500 Deus 1 and the $1500 Etrac ...companies are pumping out performance at a fraction of the price it usto be.. Simplex alone says that, that thing imo is a flat out monster under $300, so many features, performance to boot.
XP has always been a quality name and machine,it’s no surprise they’re asking top dollar once again. And they’ll sell and saturate the second hand market like everything else. But they’re timing on release couldn’t of been worse imo, with the Legend coming too. Not saying the Legend is better, but affordability will hinder XP sales for sure...And the equinox isn’t old news either, guys love em and aren’t looking elsewhere just yet

A much better comparison is the $1599 Deus 2 to the $1299 Deus 1. From what I have seen of the YouTube testers, there is absolutely no reason to keep a Deus 1 as ones primary detector compared to Deus 2 unless you just can't afford Deus 2 right now.

Deus 2 to Equinox 800.......until I see Deus 2 results in moderate to high iron mineralization on low and mid conductor targets that equal or better the Nox 800, I don't see any reason to replace my Equinox 800 with a Deus 2. I know how well the Equinox does in those conditions. The same caveat goes for the Legend.....

I have been fooled into believing manufacturer's and tester's hype and enthusiasm before when it comes to high end detectors both single frequency and SMFs when it comes to moderate to extreme ground conditions. FTP, Whites, XP, Nokta Makro and Minelab have all had the gall to print it right on the outside of the box....how well their detector does in all types of soil conditions..... and their detectors can barely hit a 5" nickel in my dirt, and if it does hit it its with an iron or silver target ID. Give me a break. It won't happen to me again.

I was just told by Calabash that the Deus 2 he is running is a Beta unit

Calabash also said that he has an extra beach mode on his unit. Some of the European testers that have run through their Beta units don't have that extra beach mode.

Ok, I'm just stating what he asked me to. I'm guessing some info being talked about over here is getting back to him and he just wants everyone to be aware the Deus 2 he has is a Beta unit.

I don't know of any ML representative that's active on the main forum's, but NASA Tom did say they do monitor the feedback folks leave online, and sure Tom himself works with ML so he will defo be digesting all the info.

NASA Tom can only say the things that Minelab allow him to say about any Minelab detector that he test for them.

Well, that seems about worthless!

Again, that is why I wait until a new detector gets in the hands of the public. No offense, but I see tester's as little more than paid advertisers. They are paid by getting a free detector to play with.

He doesn't test them, he helps design them lol.
There's endless technical help and advice that he posts on using detectors including ML's

That....my friends is called being throttled at the throat ! Censorship at it's finest. No other way to sugarcoat that statement. And to circle back doesn't work here.

KOB that's not censorship. Minelab is developing future products for the consumer market. Lots of companies have NDA's signed. Minelab is under no obligation to divulge themselves or allow employees to divulge information regarding their products under development to the general public. Keeping info about a product and how it works secret has been a common business practice forever. The last thing Minelab wants is to give the competition a heads up on what their next detector might be. That's just common sense.
