READ THE ABOVE , Brackish contains more than 1% SALT

My understanding was a bit different. So I wikipediad it. Interesting , fresh can have salt but not as much as in the ocean. Not exclusive to bays and estuaries. We are both a bit right and wrong on this one.

Is safe for human consumption 1% , but say if Craig was on the show Naked
& Afraid , he's going to boil it 1st. . Than give you a twist catch 22 , to throw you off , than tell you fresh , salt , brackish , water is water , let's all go on a forum hunting trip , I want to see if Craig can survive a week on salt water ill drink Deer Park , most on the show, boil to kill bacteria , otherwise get sick .

Got to have fun here , jumped off FB centured to much , here they don't like disagreement , or Ideas that make since , Two judges , no jury , it's shake , raddle , roll , hard core bosses here , no simpathy for member's that get pounded by BS , my opinion on what Craig came up with , move the threads you tube , isn't that creating more work for the administration , were as they could just create a Salt Beach & Salt water hunting forum , as shown , all water isn't the same , and members interested in Salt would go there , vice versa Fresh water lake, stream, pond, river hunting Peace once again ) PS Mud Puppy with is off the wall posts , were funny , made me laugh , broke up the hard core shake ups 4 sure

Why don't you start a forum for beach hunting have sub-forums for fresh water, brackish water, saltwater, for each detector brand, and each type of detector... then make sub-forums for just gold, one for silver another for platinum...
After that have a sub-forum for each type of scoop...

I guess Surfmaster didn't do enough research. There is some salt in freshwater. Let it go bro. Stress is the #1 killer. We just got rid of TNSS. Do you want to be the whipping boy AGAIN ? I went hunting this morning. Nothing good except the salt air and exercise. It was great. You need to just get out....

Surf-Master, what you are saying can likewise be said about a MYRIAD of topics. For example: We should have a separate forum for show & tell of coins that are from the 1800s, versus coins that are from the 1900s. Because : The dates are *completely different*.

We should have a different forum cleaning copper coins, than cleaning silver coins. Since : Silver and copper are completely different.

And so forth till infinity. And what you end up with is : A bunch of forums and clutter that no one reads. Let people scan down the list of posts, and click on what interests them.

Actually, I agree with Surf. I'm in mid America, no where near salt water. If this is a metal detector forum, how can the powers to be not realize that salt water detecting is in a different realm of fresh water. Operating in fresh is a different animal with different parameters and rules. Just because it's water, doesn't make it the same. The analogy about the coins was a bit weak because it would never happen. Scanning posts isn't all that productive when people for the most part aren't really clear of the subject topic they started.

Just allow a board for salt and a board for fresh if that's what admin is resisting. It's up to the members to know what the difference is. I do appreciate admin trying to keep control of all the 'testing' vids.

Perhaps take a hint from stock forums, where if a member is compensated by a company, they have to disclose they are a IRP - investor promoter. Meaning they are making money advertising in your forums. This could also look as taking advantage of this site. I don't know yet because I have not read your TOS at this time. This site is displaying ads, so I assume some attempts at monetizing friendly metal detecting.

Just a thought.

Your new here but FYI : I said long ago that TNSS should either be a paying sponsor or totally banned. He has been circumventing rules and loopholes advertising his channel and promoting products. And the owners have not woken up to this. He is not on other forums for a reason. They won't put up with this. TNSS should be banished !

The owners of the forum like a small compact forum where a member doesn't need to scroll and scroll there are plenty of forums out there like that... we will not be...

Any member here who post their video could be perceived as promoting then right? Even a hunt video. Get real.

I even had a member here just yesterday request me do a video due to a previous video I did recently, and I accommodated in swift action. Did I make any money doing? Nope. Spent my time and helped a member out here. You see I had the equipment on hand he wanted tested and showed in video. Glad I could be of help. I even do technical assistance videos on equipment too. By request and sometimes I see person with problem and make video to help them and others. Sometimes I even when doing such videos mention the member here by forum name and this forum.

creating more sub-forums is not a solution. A single catch all "beach" is fine. The minute you start making sub-niche types , is when you get forums with page after page with little traffic.

The most annoying things about FMDF is that is it uses older tech and forums. Its hard to search, hard to find info, not media friendly and filled with comments that you actually have to contemplate, associate, and personally test to gain wisdom.

The best thing about FMDF is that is uses older tech and forums. It is filled with seasoned vets and professionals, each bringing to the table decades of wisdom that apply to all machines....even newer tech. Because it isn't just photos, younger folks and/or those with little initiative to research, will skip over this wealth of knowledge for a YouTube sensation who's advice often is worth less than the breath used to say them.

I feel blessed to have found this site a decade ago, meet some great folks and listen to their knowledge. Even with new tech developing, the methods of finding items are much like (In my opinion) the ancient indian trackers. Whether you hunt with a bow or gun....you still need the knowledge on where to find the target!
