Does anyone know anything about US Mint defects, and has anyone ever seen a Quarter like this?
It has a bubble on the face and the backside. They don't line up the are off by about a quarter inch.
I have found several of these. In quarters and dimes. They were not in a fire. It is environmental damage due to water. The zinc in the coin is causing the damage.
Fire coins can be fun. Found a penny the other day that was 10-15% larger. When it popped our covered in dirt, I though maybe cool token or odd coin. Cleaned off dirt to see it was just a zinc penny, only much bigger due to heat
