Dave - Great finds! Glad to see the land of the Rising Sun is all the land of the lost bling! Way to go. I will be in Japan this summer and maybe we can get together why I am there.

Thanks everyone for your comments. The Excal is getting sent back to Australia tomorrow unfortunately for a new coil so I might not get back to the Bay of Dreams for a bit...but rest assured this thread is not finished...I shall be back!!

Nice beach you found there! Congratulations Nothing like finding a gold coin. That's one hell of a couple of days hunts.
Only one problem now is when this beach gets depleted it's hard to go back to those average beaches with only coins and silver! Happy Hunting New Year.

That is the hunt of a lifetime!! In all the years I have been hunting I have never had a hunt like that not even after a major storm. A hunt like that is "what dreams are made of" Very nice going.

absolutely amazing,,,,no doubt about it,,,,,one heck of a hunt,,the cold had to go to warm pulling all those rings, what a haul! I have never seen anyone with a ring count in one hunt like that,,,, GL HH

I can assure you that it isn't always like that! I've been detecting for years and years and these two hunts probably equal the whole remainder of my detecting time put together as far as finds go.
Of course experience and equipment are major factors but I think in this case it was mostly location, location, location! Actually I should add 'timing' as well...the forces of nature were with me as most of the sand had been stripped away and I was hunting very low negative tides.

Another nice set of lows coming up in the next few days....I guess you haven't got the excal back yet though
