Another Strike!!!

Chesapeake Bay has always fascinated me from the early days - all of Bob & Franks days read all of those books/video
one day i'll make it there just to hunt a few of those old beaches!!
Just let me know, I have a spot I've always wondered what was out deep, you would have to dive it.

One thing for sure, there are plenty, at least 80 beaches just in AACo. I've taken several out over the years. The only bad is, its really tough to hunt these spots for 97% of them you have to go in by boat. Most closed in the late 60s and the land was sold to and developed for private owners.

Me, Jim from Mass, and my buddy Mike.

One peace dollar, 192X. I do find a lot of walking liberty's , rarely Franklins.

these are from my big score - a few years back
for anyone who wants to see
"not new finds"
lol.. - first pic weekend hunt!
2nd one month of hitting this place hard!
3rd some of the silv from there-
massive amount since then- now its all but dried up
i would literally expect to find handfuls of silv when i first found it
silv halves were showing up every hunt!
up to 20 silv coins a day

Amazing amount of buckle's! And locker tags..! Must had been a virgin spot? Here the beaches are mostly small, but many... I would almost say I've dug 1/10 that many buckles in 10 years of hunting the bay. Silver I was averaging 300 a year, once close to 400. Hard to believe since Bob and Frank hammered all of these places along with those they inspired, kind of shows the bays bottom is always moving, sometime good, sometimes bad.

I'm guessing but do your spots have much water / sand movement? I had a few spots way up the rivers off of the bay where there was no movement.. we hammered those spots good, rarely can we find anything there now.

Very cool! Just to know it was a part of some ones life who flew during the war is Amazing! I have a few similar, one is WWI ring, dated 1918 Dec 5 ... even have me digging it on video. No doubt you have to get that Go Pro going, just for yourself. As far as the boat anchor?... seems it might slide and at 65 pounds, I would hate to be pulling that thing out of the water leaning over the boat.. be interesting to know what it was used for..:?:

lakes are quite small- very little movement-
the silt - boat traffic - ice movement - weight of the gold vs bottom material
my guess is over the many decades
has buried these targets quite deep - when i am digging buckles upwards of 2ft
that gold is sitting there somewhere deeper yet- proving this 2 gold were found only after -digging a large piece of trash
about 1ft or so deep- after removing - faint signal another 1ft deeper & out comes a gold ring from the 40's class ring
maybe 8 to 10g
the buckles are crazy to me due to digging these one at a time!
hundreds of them - hundreds of tiny brass snaps - buckle teeth - etc...
here u think u might have a gold - digging forever & here is another buckle!
Bob & Frank hammered them but you & others have
shown just how deep these are- movement- detectors- "expertise"- etc...

try swimming on the bottom trying to fig out how to get it out of 20ft of water
i was like no way i'm leaving this behind- took me awhile to even dig it out of the bottom!
swim a few feet drop it on the bottom it took me forever it seemed to get it to shallow water!
seen them online it is a type of ball & chain

u get a chance post a pic of WWI ring
video be cool too!
i have one dated 1917 Texas silv
& i have a trench mortar ring from WWI also! silv
these two same beach

I do like the Military rings but my favorite are the old class rings. Since these pictures I do have several more from the teens to 20's.

OBN-0002 (2).jpg
OBN-0003 (2).jpg

Few more of my favorites.. teens n 1920s, it was normal for the rings not to have dates on them but they would be dated inside.

Really cool to see your guys finds and read your tales ! I wish those days would never end. If y'all look back almost 2 years ago you can see a few of my posts of some epic hunts. A few forum members were in on this storm that lasted about 3 weeks of solid Gold hunting. I know I had 8 hunts in a row on this beach knocking down Gold and several of those days were multi-Gold. We all killed it !

Big waves and deep cuts were the rule. Up high was tough because of the heavy black sand that would throw any detector off. Guaranteed old silver , but also some smaller Gold. Down low was the bigger Gold we were all after and the black sand faded the closer you got to the water. I remember Compass arriving to the party a little late. He rolls up and I say all the silver you want up high. It was that good...targets shallow and falling out , but the black sand was tricky. So I reach into my bag and pull a handful of walkers out and he looks at me like I'm crazy because that's not what I'm after ! It was funny. Most of the silver was walkers , some Franklin's, Washington's , mercs and Rosie's. A few war nickels and a couple barber's , SLQ's.

1 thing I noticed on the cut that I've never really noticed before was the layers of trash. I dug around some of it and could actually date some of it through the decades that was not fully decomposed. Very interesting. Oh....and this beach is still holding , I'm just not posting.🤣

You guys are really making me wish I continued detecting after quitting as a teen to go in the Air Force (76'-80'). Fishing was my bag then when I got out until I bought my CZ-21 finally around 2016-2017ish. Should have gotten back into it heavier in the 80's and 90's. I do remember hitting some school yards with my buddy and using my Garrett Master Hunter to snag coins for fun in the 80's, but that was about it. Nothing serious. Fishing took all my play time. Now I see what I missed!

johnny utah !!!! :cool3::cool3: love it !!! actually a bit jealous of your name.....
nice scores special agent.
looking forward to the video. ive been doing alot of water hunting too lately....just waist deep tho. whats your machine?
where are you?

very few guys talked back when i was hunting in the 90's
referring to while hunting at the beach
they knew what was there & kept it to themselves
i rarely ever showed finds to hunters & certainly not swimmers- in my area -
i used to know guys in my area- hunters that showed many finds to swimmers [gold]
all that does is deplete your own hunting grounds
used to be u would see one hunter - then it turned into several- before too long
finds on certain beaches were few & far between!

then work stopped me from hunting much in early 2000's
so i certainly missed a handful of years during that time-
we all have those regrets!!
