Well hit one of my fav spots over weekend- i have absolutely hammered this area with excal
so if i choose to use it- i hardly find anything there anymore- i have had some success with the Nox
Here knowing things have to be buried deep! Finding swim buckles upwards of 1.5 ft & beyond!
So an experiment with Manticore- dedicated 3 hrs underwater
So here are the results... I'm underwater for about 30 min not finding much & getting used to buoyancy
issues, now granted i have around 38 lbs of lead on! in early days i was crazy enough to use 54lbs!
thankfully i don't do that anymore - NOT needed! & very risky!!
but anyone who has used a drysuit will tell ya
big air pockets & due to cold water needed a little air in the suit to stay warm!!
anyway, after about 45 min i get a signal nice low tone- so i'm digging a hole about 1.5ft deep- i am digging - fanning - digging some more
finally i get to the target it is encrusted black- war nickel? nope a buffalo
rubbed the black, buffalo showed right thru.. so i check this deep hole which i widened some to even get to the buffalo
* another target - much lower tone - lower number - can't see a damn thing due to stirring up the water!!
so i'm gently trying to clear the water to see the target- i catch the unmistakable glimpse of gold!
i can only see the very edge of it- i gently fan & recognize immediately what it is ... dental bridge -GOLD!!
only the 2nd one i have ever found & they both came from here... almost used Go Pro before dive & i'm like, no
you have way too much other equipment to worry about! that would have been a hell of a video!
so after that i found 5 jefferson nickels- they were only 1960's why are they important??
why? because they were buried at a min of 1.5ft!! we know that the gold is sitting below that!!
here are the pics with NO video! damn!
top small set 3.3g - bottom set 8.7g found a few yrs back
this set holds 22k then slowly fades prob 21easily holds 18k acid
Nox prob would have hit it too- The seasoned pro's using all metal with excal prob hit that buffalo too
however when you are underwater & your listening in between breathing its much more difficult!
Top Set Found over weekend!
other set a few years back
last photo a chain what i thought was gold- old brass
as soon as i picked it up knew it wasn't gold
few yrs ago - interesting photo though
GL out there!
