Amazing detecting trip - Montana to Indiana!

Wow David! As usual a great job relating the details of the hunt, but what fantastic finds. The amount of silver is just incredible, and there is amazing history in some of the items (the AYPE medallion is most interesting). It All makes my measly SLQ find today seem rather insignificant, even though for me it is only my second. We're going to have to get together again one of these days so you can show me how it's done. Maybe I'll even have a Manticore by then. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.

Thanks Gale! And congrats on your 2nd Standing Liberty Quarter, they are sure a beautiful coin. Hope you do really well with your detecting friend on your trip to the promised land, can't wait to see your post to the Friendly Forum!

David I'm just sitting here stunned. Unbelievable. You did in a week what would be a fantastic year for anyone. So many great finds. Congrats to you and Jason and thanks for showing with a little work and initiative great finds can still be had. Now leave some silver for the rest of us. Can't wait to see your wrap up at the end of the year. Good luck. Mark

Thank you Mark! I thought we had done fairly well each day out detecting, but to see all the finds together with pictures is pretty neat! I am envious of all your guys and gals that live back there and further east, you have TONS of opportunities to make great finds, and the coins and relics are definitely out there, good luck in all your detecting! I did break 100 Silvers for the year, am up to about 125 or so. It might be a bit hard to get out here in Montana now, am a bit spoiled from seeing and detecting some very cool historical places. Might be a bit tuff to chase a Silver Rosie or two, but since I enjoy detecting so much that might not be a problem!

Wow, really great post. Makes me want to pack up the car and go on a road trip now!

Heard about your Indiana adventures via Gale, David. Absolutely amazing detecting road-trip!! Huge congratulations on the incredible recoveries of an area rich in history.

Great trip, awesome hunts. Keep coming east, it keeps getting older!

I hope my 9-year-old son gets into the hobby so in a few years we can take a similar trip to new areas, door knock, and find some history together.

What a fantastic and rewarding adventure for both you and Jason. Some very amazing and varied recoveries by you both. A huge congrats on a trip that will hold cherished memories for a lifetime. Trapper

You must be REALLY good at asking permissions! and no slouch at detecting.

Some famous person, whose name escapes me, said to increase your success rate double your failure rate.

Those finds can represent a lifetime of hunting for some people.

I think you have spurred several if us to increase our efforts, thanks!

And it sure speaks well of the AT PRO.

outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Beachhunt1!

Thank you Silver_Seeker! Yeah, the further east the older it gets, might try that next year.

You do have the touch !!!!

Thank you Semtav!

Absolutely beautiful! Just don't come farther east, we ain't got nothing around here :)

Thank you Randy! I've seen what you have back east, awfully enticing with really old stuff everywhere!

Thanks Trapper! For sure a memory always, and some good coins and relics to put in my collection!

Thank you John Madill! I think it was my personality PLUS the friendliness of the folks back there in Indiana. Nice easygoing people at the homes we asked permission. And yep, am happy with my old AT Pro, it still does well and gets me most of the targets that the newer machines find.
