Golf Course Day 1-6 new upload: EPIC 2 hours...EPIC

You have a fantastic site and I'm sure its going to take a good amount of time to cover it all. You have some very nice finds already through day three. I like the SLQ which is in outstanding condition but those tokens are really neat and amazing. Congrats on it all. Jack

Thanks JJ. I like the tokens too. There is a ton of ground. We will be at it for SOME time.

Here is a pic of the driving range where we have confined ourselves too.

Beautiful SLQ you found there Swingy!

The round ball thing that you found looks kind of like an old split shot sinker to me. You would squeeze the tabs on the top of it to open up the split ball.

Awesome finds so far, looks like maybe there was a shooting club or something there also by the number of headstamps you're pulling... Keep at it, looks like the goods are starting to come out for you!

Wow, congratulations on such an awesome spot!
One of those buttons is from the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Civil war reunions:shock:

I thought that at first too, but it's definitely not. I will get better pics up, but you can tell this was cast like this for sure.

Thanks a lot guys and Thanks for the ID on the GAR button Mat. I'm not sure what that is yet, but we will look it up later tonight or tomorrow.

We are out on the course with Lordofzincs right now. Good times for sure

I really like those tokens! And I'm quite surprised there is so much ammunition scattered around. Maybe golf was originally played with shotguns?
Keep hunting there. If I wasn't 2 hours away, I would join you with that hunt!

Amazing stuff you guys are finding, and I look forward seeing more pics of the goodies you find! I lived in Port Angeles back in the early 80's as a coastie, so I know about the needed weather dodging.

Congrats!

The extension on the lead ball is the sprue, which fills the hole in the mold through which lead was poured to cast the ball. It gets cut off before the ball is used in a firearm. Looks like someone was casting ammo there and lost a few. What is the diameter (caliber) of the ball?

Foiled

I got my 1st buff. last night and some wheats :D Had a blast with Swing and Jedediah. My legs are on fire this morning! My back went and had to call it around 9:00 but still had a great hunt and learned some stuff too! Thanks Ryan ;) I'll get pics and dates tonight aftet I get home. The back is better so im gonna do a little more somewhere on the return trip.

Definitely a poured ball with sprue.

Really enjoying reading this thread, and following your adventure. Can't wait to see what else pops out!!

The SLQ is incredible!!!

Good luck with the rest of it!!

Good digs.

Very nice! My first ever came a few weeks ago and was a 17 type 1 with pretty remarkable details also.

wow thats awesome! this was my first, its a 1917 type 2. i couldnt believe it! hopefully they keep comin! lol

DAY 4

Lordofzincs came over from the Island to see what he could shake up and take a look at some cool history about Cyclodrome and a few other aspects of town, some of which even I was unaware of.

Day 4 was an intersting go at it. I spent the first few hours trying to find a decent signal that wasn't clad. I dug as much clad this hunt as I did all 3 of the previous hunts combined.

I started getting into the wheats and even got a cool 1934 Canadian penny, but nothing outstanding so to speak of. Lord knocked out his first buff in this time and Jedediah found ANOTHER elks lodge token. He has found one every hunt so far. I got the usual suspects for bullets and casings, but the silver was eluding me...

After a much needed smoke break we got back at it and I got a 1917 wheat penny with a 1889 Indian in the same hole. I was pretty stoked on that one and had renewed spirits that I was simply "just missing" the silver. I got what I thought was a wheatie, but it turned out to be a SWEET buckle that still works perfectly!

Shortly before 11pm I finally nabbed a 44 merc and we were able to leave which left me working a 4 day silver streak!

I also nabbed a gold colored bracelet that got me going for a second... it's my second piece of jewelry from here, but nothing precious yet.

Had a great trip and the only real exposure I was dying of was when I had to take a leak from all that coffee I had on the way over. Here's pics of my Buff. and Wheaties! The Buffalo is a 1919S, had to use a STRONG loop to see it with but it's there :D The wheats are, 1923S, 1944S (2 of em!)and a 46P. 18510002.jpg Something I noticed though when I looked at the map of the course and it was confirmed with your pic. of me in my sexy boots btw, was that I had intended to go way further sw than I did.  When I was down the slope by that hedge I thought I was in the corner section of fence. I forgot to look for that squared off hedging what ever that is in the very far sw corner. I kinda wonder if the way they ran the streets back in the day if it may have been more that way? I didn't remember if you and the Jedi had been over there? Feeling much better today but the legs are still burning, Tawnee drug me down the Larry Scott Memorial trail to the papermill geocaching and like an idiot I didn't realize how far we had actually walked until I turned around and looked back at the piers. But at least the "provisions" we found at the cache lasted all the way home. :D We did have to stop at the Jumbo buffet in Oak Harbor though which totally rocked. ;) So anyways, how late does the ferry run tonight? !!!!, I'm gonna go broke(r) at this rate. Does PT need a kick a** auto technician? lol I also got some more ferry funny money on the way home but this time it got better. $5 in the coffee machine on the ferry, pick the cheapest cup they have ($1.50) and it gives you back some dollar coins in change! I ended up with (2) 2000P Sacs. (1) 2001 Sac. a 2007 Adams and a 1979 Susan B. for the trip. None are errors/keys but I looked.
19470001.jpg Think I'm gonna start combing that weird radio communications place out here soon if you and Anakin get tired of all that silver and history at the course! Once again, had a great time and cant wait to do it again sometime.

Swing that is a great place for your hunts. SLQ was a very good fine, great details. Keep posting!!

OH SNAPPLE APPLE. JUST GOT BACK FROM DAY 5 AND I HAD MY BEST COINSHOOT YET!
