XP Deus worth it?

'Worth it' has a direct correlation to the amount of pain paying $1200 will cause you.

Is it $1000 deeper/better than an ACE350?

Nope. Law of Diminishing Returns.

It caused me an acceptable amount of pain.

I love it.

(PS: Is my $22,000 Kubota L3800 $20,000 better than my old Ford 8N? Nope. It's not. Both of them grate my driveway, haul logs, and plow my garden. One starts every time, has a nice paint job, and has a bucket on it. One didn't. That's about the difference.....)

The people who say "how can you spend that much on a detector" more than likely....

A.) Cannot afford one (and that's fine, but don't trash it b/c it's out of your budget)

B.) Have never used one. When I took the plunge and sold both my F75SE which I loved AND my AT Pro, to get a Deus, I thought to myself "I can't believe I'm doing this....spending so much, giving up two machines for 1"

If I had to go back and do it again, I wouldn't blink an eye.

Not that detecting is a job, but if you have the means, why not buy high quality stuff? If you loved working on cars, would you buy all your tools at harbor freight just to save money or would you buy something that would actually last? Why is a detector different. You gotta have the right tool for the job.

Most people don't notice that about themselves but will readily put themselves in a bind to drive the newest and coolest car. I drive a 94 F150 with inoperable windshield wipers and window regulators, and I swing a Deus. I could be driving a 2015 F250 and swinging a ACE but everyone makes their own choices of where to put their cash. 'Worth it' is subjective and in the eye of the beholder. Those who say it's not worth it are either sensitive of their class and have never used it, or just don't like the machine. Neither of those things make it 'not worth it'. Nice thing about a detector is you can buy it, try it out, and if you don't like it, sell it and your not out much more than if you had rented it....

Please stop posting in this thread. You're being rude and offensive and offer nothing constructive whatsoever. Great, you don't want to spend more than $500 to "find a merc dime" NOBODY CARES.
You have no experience swinging a deus therefor add nothing of value to the discussion. Move along.

On and it's called a quote tag so the readers know which post is being replied to.
You need to be more member and you are in no position to be a dictator, maybe it's you who should move on.A few of you guys including you have no more rights on this forum than a new member.
Who are you anyway?I mean,I could care less about you or what you post.get over yourself dude, your not important enough to tell anyone anything,or order anyone to move on..lol

Why the overnight price crash? And why so many trying to sell them,or trade?

Hey Woodie. Good to talk to you.

Because it's been out for years and there are new things coming out that interest people who can only afford to have $1000ish wrapped up in the hobby. Doesn't make it inferior or bad. People just move on.

It's the best detector I've ever used in my hot soil. I'll probably sell it this year to try out the new stuff.

Dictator? This thread is asking about the Deus, of which I own and swing one, have for a few years. It was asking about experiences with the Deus, to which you seem to be an expert by all the posts you made saying it's not worth the money.

So my question to you is this. Do you own one? Have you owned one? Have you ever even held one? If the answer to these questions is NO, then you don't have a pot to piss in, so don't comment b/c you're not adding anything constructive.

That would make about as much sense as someone asking "hey should I buy a Mercedes" and having a Kia owner tell them it's not worth it.

I have no interest in stupid e-fights with strangers. You made comments about a machine you're not versed in and were called out on it.

Are you sure I've never held one? I'm not gonna argue the fact, but yes I have.I'm sure you are speaking out of anger more than knowledge about me personally. But your entitled to your opinion as long as its not disrespectful

In reading forums, I find I learn about as much about the level of logical skills and tactics different people use to argue their points as I do about the topic of the forum itself. It's like a human zoo.

Best post I've read all week

Stay on subject!

The topic of this forum is on the Xp deus, id appreciate it if we all stay on the topic at hand. And those who spout opinions, I'd prefer you've owned and used the deus to give an opinion.

Regardless of what you may appreciate, those short, semi-related side conversations are part of what keeps a thread alive between attracting new posters. And trying to control who can contribute and what they may or may not say, isn't really how it works. So set back and read through all the answers and find the 'spouted' opinions you think are worth taking. Then take them. That's your entire responsibility here.

(By the way, you had a part in starting the above argument by asking in the title of your well written OP if a Deus is 'Worth it'. This sort of half-literate question will attract a lot of opinions and inevitably cause a wee confrontation between someone to which 'worth it' only means 'is it worth trying?', and someone else who's solid logic says it's 'not worth the money' to spend $600 more than you can afford for fractionally better performance) 'Worth it' isn't a real thing. It's an interweb hand-grenade. It means different things to different people, and though the internet is no place for being thin-skinned, people are sensitive, when called out, to what makes it different.

All that said, if it seems 'worth it' to you in either way described above, I suggest you buy one and try it out. It's in the class of other $1000+ detectors and has a big following, just like all other $1000+ detectors. It's deep on coins and has a blazing recovery speed. It's got amazing iron disc for relic hunters. It's fully wireless. It's a cinch to set up and run hot. It's hot in hot soil. It's crazy deep in mild soil. It's like swinging a 4 foot long toilet paper roll. The shaft length settings are infinite for OCD swingers. Running frequency is selectable. It's not the best ever but what is? You can always sell it and go a different route if it's not for you. Presto.

I think it's definitely 'worth it' Detecting Pro......Worth trying? Worth the money? Only you can say.

As far as shopping for a Deus, look around, and keep the dealer's prices mum. I purchased my Deus new last fall for less than what they are selling for now. I received quotes that were as far as $400 apart for the same package. There are deals to be had.

If you set up your "ignore list" correctly the thread does stay on topic. Heck the whole forum becomes a joy to read. And the Deus was definitely worth it to me. Last detector ever. Ha right!

I haven't been a member here long. What I haven't quite figured out is, this particular forum seems to not have many Deus post/threads. Granted the detector is on the high side price wise compared to most but it has been in the USA a while now. Or maybe I have discovered why??? Based on a few comments I've seen.

This describes the Deus very well. An expensive, high end detector such as the Deus, the CTX, or the V3i gives lots of flexibility. I have owned and used my Deus for almost 3 years now and I am still finding new twists to it that make my hunts more productive and more fun.

Lots of Deus users here but this forum is a little more chatty, hobbyish, and less technical than what you're used to over there TN. It's more about finds and how to get permission and whatnot. Lots more emoticons used here. :D Nice change of pace. It's like watching a comedy about bees after watching a five hour documentary on the decline of the honeybee.

Too keep it on topic: "If you haven't tried a Deus you should."
