Made five kids (and got the orthodontist and tuition bills to prove it). Used to build custom homes and commercial buildings, tore a lot of stuff down too. Now it's gardening, building kayaks, desktop super computers, cabinetry, furniture and home made CNC's. Also build custom aquariums, lights and stands and help my son with his tropical fish extravaganza (200 tanks and hopefully shrinking).

Starting to play with vacuum infusion and decided to try my hand at molding since I already had the vacuum pumps. Have a real nice lathe but lost interest after one of my wood working forum favorites was killed by a walnut burl that exploded. :(
At least detecting doesn't require an ANSI face shield and helmet.

Also make a mean jerked chicken and pulled pork BBQ (sorry Texas - I intend to die of a swine overdose). ;)

Heres what I make. This is a golfball mortar. These things are all kinds of fun to play with.

Very cool, but at what point does Homeland Security put you on their watch list or kick in the front door? Is it a question of numbers or caliber?
BTW, how far can you lengthen the barrel and can it be rifled? ;)
Yeah...I see black helicopters in your future.

Its black powder and theres no trigger, no black ops around my house no time soon.:D.......I hope!:runaway:

I love this thread and I want to applaud all the talent here. As for myself I am not gifted with alot of creativity but I have built storage buildings, a sun room, a Bowie knife and misc. things like that. I have been blessed though to have known some very creative people in my life. My art teacher in school hand made 20 foot bull whips and boy those things were loud when he cracked them. I have a friend who is currently restoring the oldest log structure in Logan county, Arkansas. It was a 2 story with a dog-run and was a stagecoach station and hotel. It was frequented by the female outlaw Belle Starr. As a side note, this building is on the national register of historic buildings.

I like to build stuff from time to time......I've design and built my kids a sandbox. I also built myself an all tube 22W guitar amp from scratch based off the famous Dumble Overdrive circuit. I even made the cabinet from scratch to house the amp.

Nice Dave!

Here's a folding chess set I made, and also a table I made from a very rusted sewing machine base that my parents had - I restored it to factory-like finish and built the top out of poplar and stained mahogany.
