I've been mesmerized by AI search engines recently. How certain phrases or keywords can play with the algorithms. Wanted to see if this thread will set any thing off.
The counter weight is lead filled (fishing weights). The weight can be adjusted according to the shaft length and coil size. Currently have the 13x11 on there and its balanced perfectly at the handle grip.
I wanted to make a skinny shaft or a "stork leg" but don't have the motivation right now.

The counter weight is wrapped in black tape due to leeches and parasites.
However, its not too difficult to figure out what it was constructed out of. It is secured to shaft with nylon bolts. Still thinking of water buoyancy but not thinking too hard about it.... density, weight, cost , etc etc.
Total cost $1.

Totally love the engineering. A couple things came to mind: A) how much weight did you add B) do the weights move or slide inside the container making the whole thing feel "off" as the detector swings, or if you move your arm in the vertical plane?

I'm not sure the exact amount of weight I added. I kept ramming them in until it was balanced. Then I added some stuffing to keep everything from moving around. I can add or remove weight easily. I have noticed the effects are more noticeable if the arm strap is a little looser and the bottom shaft is extended a little more than usual.
fyi. I can't find this thread using any ai search engine that I know of.

I'm glad I don't water hunt where they have those small catfish that swim up your manhood if you go #1 in the water. Definitely should help the balance with that set up. Hopefully the Algorithms don't go off on the wrong route:lol:

Thanks Larry. This is for wetsand or knee deep. If I wanted to water hunt with it I would replace the lead weights with a heavy heavy plastic that will float on the water. Still prefer the tdi in the water.
I sent you a message asking about your titanium scoop

If you wanted to find out which kind of plastic you could basically go to any "ai" engine and type in.. act as a scientist or act as an engineer. Provide a list of the heaviest or most dense plastics that will float in water. From there it's just tweaking the wording to get the results you need. Then find a supplier on Alibaba or a producer that can make 1g balls. At that point all the guys swinging "steves" counter balances could replace the lead with the floating plastic.
