Weight Loss Challenge

I know that i am new to the forum, but I would like to get in on the contest. I have been doing good so far this year. I weighed 284 on 1-1-12. And I am at 265.5 as of today. That was all from eating right and cutting out pop. I start phase II, the aerboic activity, next week, so we it is cool, I would love to participate.

Let's get this show on the road!

If you would like to accept this challenge, please PM me your initial weigh-in any time between now and Sunday night.

Any PM I recieve after that will not be entered.

I will post the starting weigh-ins by noon on Monday.

I'll join. The Wii Fit and EA Active have been gathering a little dust since I developed a heel spur a few months ago. Hope it goes away soon because I'm a big walker on lunch at work and carry a pedometer with me every day.

On the downside, I'm scheduled to audit a Five Guys Burgers restaurant this week. Talk about starting off on the wrong foot.

Awesome thread.... I'm not in as I started my diet program in Jan. But as a nurse I would like to mention a couple of things, as some interpretations of diets in general can become skewed... Take it for what it's worth. YOU NEED TO EAT MORE TO LOSE WEIGHT! As bonesquat can attest to.... metabolism is everything. Eating at the right times, the right kinds of food, and in the right amounts will keep your body at a higher metabolic rate. Case in point, I work in mental health, and one of my clients went on a hunger strike. Well it just happened to be the same day that I started my diet. In one week he had lost 8lbs by not eating a thing, and very little water, not a good thing. He looked miserable. I, in turn, ate like a mad man throughout the day, but I couldn't have any carbs.... I lost 7lbs that week! BTW...BS get your thyroid checked....you probably have low TSH. Could be attributed simply to an overactive thyroid, Grave's disease, or a pituitary issue. Check out this site for signs/symptoms and more info. http://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/tsh/tab/test My family started the South Beach Diet in Jan.. Contrary to popular belief, the weight does come off of the mid-section first, especially with this diet of low carb/sugars. It just doesn't seem so as that is where the bulk of our extra weight is stored. Also, the first 10-15lb.s of this diet is very easy to lose. Guys especially, can lose a silly amount of weight just by not drinking pop...Since Jan. 7th my wife has lost 22lbs., my daughter 21lbs., and I have went from 267 to 249... ( I know, only 18lbs.). BTW....that is just by changing our eating habits, ie....low carb, low sugar, zero processed food, but eating up to 5 times a day (decent meals, too!). The funny part is that we just started working out this week!! Now to get toning these lazy muscles... Good luck everyone!!

i forgot to replace that when we had the house fire

thank you for the contest

PM sent with initial weigh in.

Great idea and some incentive behind it too.

Good luck everyone that's in it.;)

Just submitted my initial weight of 313.6 lbs. As a 5' 9" man with a large structure, I should weigh around 200 lbs. My problem is not losing weight, it's maintaining the loss. This will be the third year I have lost weight for summer only to gain it later in the year almost back to where I began. I'm really going to be focusing on reducing portion sizes and eliminating late night binges.

I plan on using MyFitnessPal.com to track my progress but I will be fully disclosing my progress on here to keep the pressure on me.

Good luck everyone!

I'm in, pm sent. starting at 270.3 on a 6'3" frame. I want to hit 240 by my birthday at the beginning of May. I just acquired an elliptical, weight bench, and power tower from gold's gym. Good luck to everyone, it should be a fun contest.
