That sounds great! If you would like to go ahead and post that, that would be good. I have to get off for now.

Thanks!

What if you divided it into classes?

Best old coin hunter: come up with points for the various old coins, and if it was age dependent, everyone could enter.

Best Jewelry hunter

Best Coin count

Best relic hunter

And for people who put a lot of effort into it, best dedication.

You could mix the assigned values in so a jewelry hunter would get extra points for an old coin, and so on.

You know, we could do this, not even award points, and have a group of judges pick which member should get each entry. That way, there would be no grumbling over points and such!

Should we charge a small admittance fee like last year? Also, what about prizes? I was thinking we should do smaller, but nice prizes like forum t-shirts.

I am going to create a social group for this. :)

The fee would be up to Carol and Vlad I suppose. Prizes can be determined after we get a a good list of participants.. Sound good?

I think you all are pretty "brave" attempting this.

I didn't stickie it, because I feel it wouldn't get found as easily. You are better off just bringing it to the top yourselves by posting something that will draw interest. The thread should be in the contest forum shouldn't it?

There were quite a few issues with the last contest. I don't know how you are going to work them all out. The main issue was, the contest put us in the hole about $200 bucks. Members who originally said they were going to donate prizes... backed out after 3 months time, and the member who was holding the majority of the prizes, didn't have money to ship them. (Thanks to Epi-hunter for straightening out that mess)

So any prizes must be in-hand "upfront." The cost of shipping needs to dealt with. The entry fee was too low at $5.00 a person.

If you keep the entry fee at $5.00 (which is affordable for all) Maybe we should forgo prizes, and if they win, they get a custom "winner" user title?

However changing titles would be a problem for super mods/chat mods.

She has not been on since yesterday at 2:15pm.

Yesterday was Vlad's birthday.

Happy Belated Birthday Vlad!

All sound points and things I never knew. I'd like to keep it as simple and headache free as possible,,,, but can it be?? I only want to have a fun little Dirt digging.. A $10.00 entry fee is still reasonable and the Forum should not have to out of pocket pay. Let's see how the response goes and I'll generate a list in a week or so..

Thanks,
Bruce

As long as we keep the prizes down, we can charge the regular $5.00 fee. Maybe just an honorary title would be good enough.
