The Hurricane of 1715...

I knew that many dollar signs would bring someone out of the woodwork. Even if you are on solid ground, it still tends to toss a turd in the punchbowl. I wish them a speedy trip back to Spain with their tail between their legs.

Not worried about it. Under Admiralty Maritime Law, Spain ceded any and all claims to these shipwrecks after they abandoned their salvage efforts(which is well documented).

The problem is when the govt colludes with spain to take the 1715 treasure by force and give it to spain. They did it with the Black Swan wreck, they will try to do it to your finds too.

Here's the difference. Odyssey Marine discovered the Black Swan. Spain knew where the 1715 ships were and they salvaged them for 3 years. When they stopped salvaging, they gave up any and all claims to them. International law is black and white on this matter.

Historic fact. Wasn't Spains gold anyway. They stole that s***! Way to go Scoundrel!

Good! Would love to see Mexico, Bolivia, Peru & other countries set the record straight that Spain has no claim to the finds.

So I have to ask out of curiosity, what happens now? Do you pay the state of Florida $900,000 or give them 70 of the coins for the 20% they get? Do you keep the coins, do they go to auction, or do they get sold for scrap value? I can only imagine the possibilities and want to be informed for when I'm in this situation.

I know you and the rest of the crew working that site put in all the research and did everything right to make this fantastic find! Reading on some other sites that some slick lawyers and "international interests" are trying to throw a monkey wrench into all your hard work! Hoping this all comes out in your favor in the end Scoundrel!!

Links please?
It's a shame to have such an amazing thing happen, only to have all the leaches and blood suckers slither at you from every direction.

So what ever became of it, did I guys get to keep 80% or what happened?

The state took 20%. The rest was divided accordingly. I was only the diver, so I had very little skin in the game, but I did walk away with a nice little pile of gold coins, and a big fat check for my percentage of the sale of the Royals.
